I got this for my brand new generator. It fits perfectly in the engine. A new engine will have small bits of metal in the oil, this oil plug will capture them to prevent damage.

Not sure it’s necessary to install, but with new generator the price was right if it helps reduce friction .

Important add on for new generator
Works great, added for my new generator. Does heat up, so where gloves if you take it out after running your generator.
