this is not safe to be in a boat engine room with gas.
I purchased this product for use in my boat, but it has never worked from the start. Upon inspecting it, I was shocked by its poor quality. The construction is extremely cheap and it is clearly not designed for marine use. There are no sealed connections, and it is not corrosion-proof, which raises serious safety concerns. Using this near gas fumes could potentially cause a spark and ignite a fire. I strongly advise spending the extra money to buy a better quality product on the market. Don’t risk your safety. I’ve attached a picture for you to see the issues for yourself. Unbelievable! After trying to get this to work for the past week it never turns on for me at a cold snap.

Good safety features
Fair price. Enables keeping engine from freezing in cold snap. Saves the time and cost of winterizing/dewinterizing in Seattle where freezing temps are unfrequent.

No more winterizing my boat for me.
I should have purchased one of these a long time ago. Basically just plugged it in & placed it within the engine compartment of my inboard boat. It is only necessary infrequently where I live thus nice not to have to winterize my boat when anticipating only a few nights of weather in the 20's. Appears to be a solid durable product with an auto on/off according to temperature.

Don't buy
It has never worked, even after being in a zero degree environment ,all that happens is the green light flashes slow and then faster, never shuts off, stuck with it

There’s no easy way to tell if it’s working
A simple test button would be nice to see if the unit is actually working. There’s no simple way to do this other than putting it in a refrigerator and waiting for it to cut on. I’ve had it in my bilge now for several weeks and I don’t trust it because I can’t easily test it. I was able to find the information, but it would be nice if they put more information in the box regarding amperage that the unit draws.

Works great
I had to test in in the fridge but it works great

Marginally effective, not worth the risk
I guess you get what you pay for. Small boat cabin and the unit did not keep up. It dropped to 28 degrees inside my boat cabin for 4 hours and the unit did not raise the temperature inside above freezing. I'm a bit worried when the temperature stays consistently below 20. I'm pessimistic that it will keep the lines from freezing. I wouldn't buy this next time.
