Powerful yet simple
I've only need using this a week now after moving from home assistant. I toyed with the idea for some time and after spending too much time trying to keep everything running every time an integration was broke, I decided to take the plunge.I'm now wishing I'd done it earlier. Set up is ridiculously easy and setting up automations, or flows as Homey calls them is a breeze. I got pretty good with home assistant automations but the implementation on Homey is so simple. You have basic flows, which is useful for people used to the likes or smartthings or Alexa and then there are advanced flows which make is really visual. So far I've found nearly all of my devices are working, even some I thought were broke that home assistant couldn't pick up any more. Don't get me wrong, there are also some that don't work that did with home assistant but I knew about hem before hand. My Tuya devices don't work at all but there are workarounds so if you are thinking of buying them make sure you read up first.I would say if you need something more advanced than Alexa or Google home but don't need something as complex as home assistant then this fills the spot and I wish I'd bought one sooner. Yes it's expensive but I've probably spent the same money on a nabu casa subscription over the years so when you look at it that way, it's justifiable in my opinion

Initially very impressive, however, reliability is an issue
For many years I’ve had smart home products running with a combination of Apple’s HomeKit and with HomeBridge running on a separate computer. I was considering switching to Home Assistant to allow for more compatibility and to allow for more complex automations, but then a saw a video showing what Homey Pro could do, and decided to try that first.Initial set up was very easy and everything was brought into the Homey ecosystem via their great app, however, by around the 3rd day of having partially set things up I suddenly had a ‘cannot connect to Homey Pro hub’, so I took a look and it had a red light which basically means it’s crashed. I cut the power and started it back up and all was good again. A few days later I noticed a couple of my devices were showing an error. I restarted their Homey apps and they showed as ok again, but within hours they fallen over again, so I decided to remove them from the hub. Then on Saturday I’d just finished adding the rest of my devices to the hub and received another ‘can’t connect to Homey pro hub’ error. Took another look at it and as before it was showing a red light as it had crashed again (twice in less than one week). At this point I decided that this isn’t something I want to be dealing with on a regular basis. My HomeKit based set up has been extremely reliable, and for the additional benefits I’d receive by sticking with Homey I just don’t think the cost is worth it if it’s not going to be reliable. It’s a shame as I was loving it (and perhaps I received a faulty one) but I’m not prepared to regularly spendtime fault finding when I don’t have to currently.

The Smart Home Hub That Does It All!
The Homey Pro has become the backbone of my entire smart home setup, and I honestly can’t imagine managing everything without it. I’ve got smart lighting throughout the house, paired with motion sensors in key areas, and everything is seamlessly controlled through Homey. It’s one of the few hubs out there that handles multiple protocols - Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even Infrared which means I can connect almost any smart device to it, no matter the brand. What makes Homey Pro stand out is its Flow automation feature, which is a simple yet powerful way to create custom automations. Even if you’re not especially tech-savvy, Flow makes it easy to build complex scenarios that work the way you want. For example, I’ve set up a flow where the lights in each room automatically adjust based on the time of day, dimming in the evenings and brightening in the mornings. If motion is detected in the hallway after dark, it turns on just enough lighting to guide the way without being too bright. All of these automations are easy to set up with Flow’s visual editor, which lets you drag and drop conditions and actions to make adjustments on the fly.The app does take a bit of getting used to, especially with the wide range of options and customizations available. But once you get the hang of it, the level of control is amazing. Another great perk is that Homey’s open approach allows me to mix and match devices from different brands, which means I’m not locked into a single ecosystem. I’ve got a combination of Philips Hue lights, Nest thermostats and Sonos speakers all working together smoothly under one app.Homey Pro isn’t cheap, and there is a bit of a learning curve, especially if you want to dive deep into custom automations. But the flexibility, functionality and ease of use are absolutely worth it if you’re serious about a connected home that just works. It’s ideal for anyone who wants one central hub capable of managing a large, varied setup. In my experience, Homey Pro has allowed me to fine-tune every aspect of my smart home exactly how I like it.
