Surprisingly good shelving unit, particularly at this price point!
I honestly wasn't expecting much out of these shelves: I just wanted something for light duty that would fit into a small space, and 36"x18" floor space was perfect, so I ordered this one. My intent was to load it with a bunch of lightweight items and buy a heavier shelving unit to put next to it to handle heavier weights. And my expectations were greatly exceeded! The shelf you're buying is the one on the left of my picture. I was much less satisfied with the shelf on the right that I purchased, but that's a whole other story. Best quality of these shelves is the cost for what you get, which is excellent. The frames of these shelves are solid, sturdy, and hold the unit together far above what I was expecting. In particular, the four brackets you receive to extend the height of the shelves to 72" high could have been a cheap throw-away part. Instead, four very sturdy, heavy brackets are included that hold almost 2" of the top and bottom support rods, and a thoughtful tongue has been included in the part to make sure the part once placed at the correct height stays at the correct height and provides this support for the lifetime of the unit. Very cool! Support for the shelves themselves is provided through a pretty standard notch and slot configuration and the product surprised me again by including a small rubber mallet to make sure the notches are slotted in well. I had my own leather mallet to do this, but including a mallet was a nice touch. Assembly was a breeze and the product is extremely sturdy without being overly heavy. It is pretty easy to move around to put it where you want it. I don't think anyone is expecting a shelf at this price point to carry 2000# and indeed the idea that it would do so is kind of ludicrous. The shelves themselves are very thin MDF boards. If you put 400# on one of these shelves, it would snap instantly. But you can see that I loaded down this shelving unit with a variety of parts, tool kits, and sundry items and even the heavily-laden middle shelf is showing no signs of bowing. This is thanks to the thoughtful edges provided on the support beams to hold the shelves across their full lengths and widths. All in all, an excellent product and definitely exceeded my expectations for this price point. Worth your money!

Stop searching, this is the one you want!
Hands down an incredibly good deal. Well engineered, easy assembly, very strong. I got the ones with the metal tops. I researched for hours before taking the risk of getting these, and I am soooo glad that I did. Perfection! And for those that make fun of the hammer, fact is it is adorable, pretty high quality, and actually works for the purpose (but if you have a rubber mallet, that is better).

Vevor comes through again!
I purchased these shelving units to replace all the tired, worn out plastic ones in my garage. I just assembled my third shelving unit yesterday and I will be assembling my fourth unit today once it arrives. Here are some things to know about these units: 1. They are a tremendous value for what you get. 2. Although a second set of hands would be helpful to start the assembly process, us independent types like to go solo. Each unit took me about twenty minutes or less to assemble. 3. You can use a larger rubber mallet to make assembly easier, but where's the fun in that? I like a challenge. 4. Take your time. Make sure the small part of the vertical post's keyholes are toward the ground when connecting the two together. Is this the voice of experience? Maybe. Maybe not. 5. Will these shelves hold 400 pounds each? Probably not, but who is putting 400 pounds on a shelf? Weightlifters? Hans and Franz? I'd be surprised if you put 150 or 200 pounds on a shelf. If you are doing so, put that weight on the bottom one. Put the lighter or long term storage items on top. 6. You can easily move the unit around and put it where you want it post assembly, so feel free to assemble it wherever is easier. 7. Although the MDF shelving boards are not super thick, they are stronger than you think, so don't overthink it. You can always replace them with plywood down the road if they should start sagging. 8. Vevor products may not be the very top of the line, but the small sample of their products I have tried so far have been reliable and made of decent quality. Summary: I have been super happy with this product!! Thanks Vevor!

Good value. Sturdy. Easy to assemble. Shelves have slight lip.
I found these pretty easy to assemble. A couple of assembly tips: - Make sure the vertical pieces are right side up before attaching and horizontals in even positions. It's a bit harder to get pieces apart once the are secured than it is to put them together. - There is an included small hammer with plastic ends to avoid marring finish. It's a nice touch to include it, but I recommend not using it. It is too light, requiring numerous strikes and hitting a small edge of the shelf support is tedious. Get a piece of 2x4 or similar wood. Place the wood on the edge of a support and give it a sturdy whack with a good heavy hammer... usually one strike is enough. - Double check that both attachments are in the slots before setting with hammer. If an MDF shelf seems to not sit properly, it's likely because one support had one of the studs out of the slot. The MDF wood shelves aren't supper sturdy but seem reasonable for the price. My biggest complaint is that the horizontal supports have slight lips to hold MDF in place (though really unnecessary since the corner pieces alone would be enough). The MDF isn't thick enough to rise above the lips so boxes and stuff can't be slid off the shelf. It's not horrible flaw, but was reason for loss of one star.

Sturdy & Easy
Very sturdy and goes together pretty easy. My only suggestion, is if you have a larger mallet then definitely use it. The one they provide is a bit small. Dimensions are accurate and it fits will in the space. It's a great choice for the price.

Decent enough, but you get what you pay for.
Everything about this unit is thin, the metal, the shelves, the caps for the feet, all of it. You can literally twist the metal uprights back and forth a bit they are so thin. I have a number of these units of different brands that I've purchased over the years and they are all more substantial than this one. Also, the 18" deep does not come with center supports for the shelves, though it could use them. I wouldn't trust this with 150-200 lbs per shelf, much less 400. I have less than 100 lbs. spread out on one shelf and it's bowing a bit in the center already. I've tried to keep the heavier stuff near the edges where the shelves have a bit of support and I'm talking items less than 10-20 lbs each spread around. That being said, I think it will work for what I need it for and it will hold a good bit of lighter items. It went together easily and, once completed, the frame itself seemed fairly sturdy.

Great shelving for garage or basement
Great looking shelves replaced my old rusted out ones. Easy to put together. Hammer and gloves came with the shelf. The suggestion from other reviews of having a 2x4 to bang it into place was spot on. Shelves are stable and easy enough to move around to choose the place you need them at. Curious about the material used for the actual shelf where items sit. If water comes into contact with it, what will happen as it is kind of like a cardboard material. Very happy with our purchase. Everything from the description was spot on.

Easy Assembly
It's easy to put together, and it looks very nice. It's also quite sturdy, especially after you put some weight on it. I definitely recommend this unit. I'm actually planning on buying another one soon.

material changed?
Something changed with the construction, they feel much less sturdy than the "identical" ones I bought a few months ago. Metal is thinner and the lip of the connecting bars actually indented a little it when I hit it with the included rubber mallet.

Sturdy Shelving That Can Hold A Lot!
Purchased this item for my husband's new storage shed. He was very pleased with this product. It is very sturdy and large enough to hold more things than expected.

Great products for a great price.
Solid, easy to put together and they even included a little mallet. Everything I have bought from Vevor has been great, especially for the price.

Different league - you get what you pay for.
After buying (and immediately returning) a £20 shelving unit of the same size, I decided to stop messing about and spend a bit more on this one. Glad I did. Most of the cheaper “heavy duty” units out there are all built the same way — thin pressed metal with little tabs that slot into flimsy cut-outs. I’ve now had hands-on experience with that type and can confirm they are absolutely not heavy duty, whatever the box says. This VEVOR unit is in a different league. The metal is noticeably thicker and heavier, and the assembly method is far superior. Instead of those bendy tabs, it uses round dowels that slot into proper keyways — it feels much more secure and rigid once built. The MDF shelves are 7mm thick rather than the 5mm boards you find on cheaper units. It’s a small difference on paper but it does add stiffness. That said, I’d still have preferred slightly thicker boards for complete peace of mind when loading it up properly. My only real criticism is the lack of a centre support on each shelf. With one added, this would be close to perfect for the size and price. Overall though, this is a genuinely solid shelving unit that feels like it’ll last. If you’re deciding between this and the bargain-basement versions — save yourself the double purchase and just buy this one first.
