I've tried a few, plastic and wood and this is the best I've found.It fits together nicely and is airtight.It has a warm tone typical of wooden recorders (isn't that why we like them?)The upper register notes are so easy to play - often a cause of trouble and horrible squeaking sounds, but on this recorder they are clean and bright and don't need to be played very loud to get them.It's tuned to 440Hz (I've tested it) in the modern style, in common with all recorders the pitch increases slightly as the air flow increases and that's part of learning to play the recorder.The included hard case is a nice feature and there's a cleaning brush included.There is a space for a pot of cork grease but you'll need to provide your own.The wood finish is very smooth and the lacquer has minimal odor.A bonus is that is works very well with the "Mute Flute" inserts (available on Amazon) which allow near silent practice.A lovely instrument that is good enough to learn everything you need to learn - it won't hold you back.

Having not played a recorder for years, this recorder was just right for me. Easy to use and master, beautiful sound. Well pleased with it.

It’s lovely and the sound is great.One star less for the awful and hard to open plastic case. My 7 year old could not manage this easily at all. I bought a padded flute sleeve to help.

Sounds better than a plastic one. I love how it fits in the box and can be put away. It’s perfect for someone who is learning. Deif worth buying if you are looking for a good recorder.

I chose this recorder as being made of maple wood I thought it was eco friendly instead of a plastic one. I was highly disappointed to find it came in a plastic box and that I have to dismantle it each time to put back into the box!The recorder and cleaning brush is as expected, and I am happy with it. But I would have preferred it cam in a storage bag and wrapped in brown paper.

We bought this for our 14 year old son who suddenly decided he wanted to learn to play the recorder and he loves it! Good quality, nice clear sound and easy to play and store.
