Loose both ends to release phone will be easier.I like it simple & does the job.

This device is really good at holding a phone in almost any position, but it opens on each end making it just a little bit more difficult to get the phone into it. I am currently using an old Samsung S7 in this holder. Once you have gotten it into the clamps it stays put. Because of this design, repeated mounting and dismounting of the phone can become a little frustrating. Neither clamp opens far enough to allow the phone to slip in easily. So, once you have one of them at its maximum length, you have to push up on the other to gain enough space for the phone to pop in. The ball mount on the back fits well and tightens down really well. It's a great phone mount for the money but it is a bit fiddly to use until you get used to it. I just leave my old phone mounted all of the time now.

So far it’s working pretty well for my iPhone SE and my Garman GPS on my three wheel motorcycle no problems falling off.

My family manages to destroy the "holder" part of every car mounted phone holder we purchase. We picked up these two "holders". They mount on the ball joint of both of our mounts, and does a great job securely holding a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and an Iphone 12 pro max.

Got these to replace a couple broken holders. Glad I didn't have to replace everything. These are a good value even if you just need the plastic lock nut like I did

Not super tight. Hard to not pinch the buttons on both sides. Upside, u can swipe from top and bottom of screen w ease

not only holds my phone but also my gps. It has strong springs and rubber like pads so as to keep item from slipping.Would buy again.
