Not realised it does not have culture, now we have to wait for the starting culture

I bought this because I wanted a straight sided jar for keeping my starter in. I love it and use the lid, cloth top and spatula all the time. The band that goes round the jar is a bit loose and therefore not very useful. The thermometer is not useful for me and the plastic spoons are a bit clumsy; they feel like unnecessary extras to hike up the price. Definitely overpriced but I don't regret buying it as the jar is perfect shape and size for regular use.

Good product

It’s a tall jar, which is what I wanted, but the elastic band is too loose to stay up around the jar for measuring the level of starter to see how it rises, so I can’t use that and the sticker temperature strip means it won’t be able to go in the dishwasher.

All that is needed to get your sourdough started

Nice piece of kit. Fed the starter and it came to life quickly. I now feed this starter exclusively on rye flour, so that any country loaf I wish to make gets this lively sour dough starter a good boost to make a lovely tasting sour dough loaf.

The jar and accessories are very useful for its purpose. The metal cover seems to be made of a cheap metal, which is beginning to rust. It’s such a shame because the cover is important. On the whole, I am happy with it. I will have to change the cover.

The band intended to measure feeding times and activity could be a bit more snug, and the temperature measurement strip is peeling. The little measuring spoons - didn’t notice these were included and didn’t need. But the jar itself, especially the little shower cap for when the starter is active, is perfect. Would happily buy again.
