Good for lightweight freestanding equipment
Good for lightweight non bolted down equipment. I currently use this shelf to hold a Western Digital EX4100 Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit. With the 4 rack bolts fully tightened down, the shelf slightly "sags down" with the weight of the approximately 3 pound NAS unit, perhaps a few, no more than 5 degrees. The sag does somewhat bother me, but functionally, it is not critical. I suppose I could put shims or washers in the bottom bolt holes to correct the sag. A better use of this type of shelf would be to support a lightweight cable modem, or perhaps a low quantity network switch. 3 pounds is probably too much, and I can blame myself for expecting too much, or perfect levelness!
