The Miracle of rational thought, what you ought and Christian faith
C S Lewis has such a wealth of knowledge and yet writes so clearly that it is a pleasure to plod along the paths that he has built so carefully. I have read most of C S Lewis and this book two or three times over the years. It was still illuminating for me, partly because I have read a little of the background and could appreciate more how his thought fits in with the long tradition of christian thought. It was time well spent and I would recommend it to anyone who believes in rational thought or who likes to find out why we think in the way we do. It is part of our education. It is part of a rational Christian belief..

Does rationality lead to Truth? It all depends on your worldview.
A very interesting read. What it really establishes from the outset is to show how stifling presuppositions can be when approaching a subject. Obviously, Mr Lewis is discussing the issue of Miracles, however he clearly shows that a person can make no claims about miracles without first examining their own presuppositions. This is a very learned and philosophical work, from a clearly brilliant mind, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in being genuinely challenged in their thinking and overal worldview.

Always an honest view from this man and although he ...
Always an honest view from this man and although he is an intellectual he makes it plain that we can ALL understand that GOD is there for everyone and miracles do happen.

Excellent easy to absorb thought provoking viewpoints.
A concise variety of views which stimulates the thought process through sciences both 'soft' and 'hard' whilst giving food for thought to both those with faith and those who are enquiring about the possibility of a supernatural element being involved in the natural material world. Using well balanced opinions on which to allow one to reflect, this easy to read, yet academically sound research, is a valuable, vitalizing, thought provoking tool which is accessible to those initially enquiring or looking for additional research. Read reflectively, It will encourage and prompt those looking for well considered viewpoints which can then be used to lay a sound foundation for the serious exploration of whether God can be a sustaining element in nature without having to sneak the supernatural in through the back door.

Present for a friend
This is, and has been for many years, a brilliant book. it is a splendid source for those (believers and unbelievers) who want to tackle serious questions through the use of ruthless reason. Be careful if you don't want your mind changed.

MIRACLES by CS Lewis
This is a brilliant book full of lucid exposition and illuminating metaphors. Written by a literary genius from whom we have many excellent books including the Tales of Narnia.C S Lewis sets out here to demonstrate that miracles are happening all the time all around us

Heavy going in places
Always reckoned to be one of the best studies of miracles written. But quite difficult in places, with closely argued ideas and conclusions.

I love it
C.S. Lewis writes about life, real life with all the pain and struggles involved. If you are not a Christian , read his books and they will make any person think that being a non-believer is not such a fun . Life as a Christian makes so much more sense .

Reading this book will require you to reflect and often re-read many sentences and paragraphs. It is NOT a book that can be lightly leafed through and skimmed. Professor Lewis, as many writers of his ilk, writes/ speaks incessantly in appositives (as I have just done here). It is, for me, sometimes necessary to bypass the phrase within the commas in order to get to the thought being presented. That said, this is a book that is worthy of being read and re-read by everyone who has the capacity to understand it.

Este libro lo considero una recopilación de pensamientos interesantes sobre el tema. Es algo rebuscado el libro y no todos los capítulos los aproveché igual, pero creo que en general me dejó ideas muy interesantes para usarlas en otras ocasiones.
