The Handy HP-189 Chainsaw Safety Kit - Black

Excellent value safety kit which is essential for chain saw operation domestic or otherwise. Assembly of the helmet takes a little bit of working out as the instructions are too clear but once done its a snug fit and blocks out excessive sound. Gloves are good quality. The chaps allow a reasonable amount of ventilation while doing what is invariably hot work. They are secured by a belt which personally I found a little uncomfortable and would maybe benefit from the addition of braces to support them. All in all I'm happy with my purchase and delivery was very quick.

I wish I bought this when I bought the chainsaw - you feel so much safer when you've got this lot on.The trousers and gloves are especially good - although the trousers could be better designed (braces instead of, or as well as, a belt, for instance) and you won't want to wear them when it's hot - but then you won't want to end up in hospital having what's left of your leg sewn back together, either.The helmet, visor and ear protectors are a bit OTT, especially if you're not working anywhere that needs head protection or using an electric chainsaw (much quieter than a petrol one), but you do feel much safer with a full face visor than just safety goggles.When I think back to the things I did with a chainsaw before I bought this I shudder. I am very lucky to be still here and able to write this. Personally, I think it shouldn't be legal to sell a chainsaw without protective clothing (possibly with training as well). It's quite incredible that anyone can go into Lidl or Aldi and walk out with something as lethal as a chainsaw - with no protection and no idea how to use it safely.If you're using a chainsaw for anything, even just cutting logs, invest in this kit - you won't find anything as good for less.One small word of warning though - with this lot on you do feel almost invulnerable, so it can be tempting to work less safely. In one situation, working on a root in a fairly cramped hole in the ground, I found myself working much closer to the saw that I usually would and trying to operate it at quite a dangerous angle. I had to will myself to work more safely - as if I wasn't so protected. Otherwise I might be writing a very different review, possibly from a hospital bed!

Not impressed the first time my son used the ear muffs they broke, so am going to send it back. Was a Christmas present, as my son is a Tree Surgeon.

Chaps and gloves are really fantastic. The safety hat was very large but managed with a bob hat underneath. Really good value for money.

All items are of good quality and are a big saving on the separate parts.The helmet face mask is hard to lift up and you have to do it with two hands.

Arrived in quick time. Value for money. Padded glove for right hand use only.Pity the trousers were one size fits all.

Excellent. Trousers fit very well...I'm 6'3", and helmet/visor is of sound construction. Gloves are on sale in B&Q for £25, so all in all a very good purchase. Also got excellent service from the seller...impressed all round.

Bought for my husband and all really good. He did find not being able to detach ear defenders from helmet a bit clunky.
