Very happy with this! Straight out of the box it worked. Of course, I then wandered round the house taking the moisture content of things, and then out to the woodshed, to do the same with cut logs. Newer logs were giving a wetter reading, last year's logs were far lower, and the few logs that had spent the summer inside, int he log basket, were lowest, so all seemed to be as it should be. Then I sneaked in a test on a living tree branch, just to see, and it instantly told me super-high levels of moisture.Very easy to use, just point, press, and the answer comes up.The woods are divided into four levels, and the division of them is a bit odd; I would have thought it would be hardwoods, softwoods, firs, that kind of thing, but some woods that I'd consider pretty hard, such as ash, weren't in with other woods like walnut or even poplar. Given that, it would be useful to have a more comprehensive list of what goes into each category, other than the brief, two or three examples printed on the meter (maybe a sticker on the back?), literally half of which I'd never even heard of!But that's the only thing wrong with the meter. It's a nice, super-simple one, perfect for firewood.Incidentally, it says in the ad that this is also for tracking damp in cement or car carpet, walls, floors and caravans, but the paper instructions with the meter say it's specifically for wood. Certainly it doesn't have any settings for anything but wood, and you have to choose a setting, so you'd have to make a wild guess for anything else.But for log burners, this is a perfect, simple tool. Does one job, and does it well.

Great product ensures you dont burn wet wood. Arrived next day very sturdy included battery which was a bonus.

I am very happy with my moisture meter, it has helped me ensure that the logs are below 20% before I put them on the fire. Very easy to use. And batteries were included.
