Well for a series first book, this was a pretty good start as I wanted to know who does the book lead us to because I was literally following Harper and the author really made the guessing game for me quite fun and I was surprised with the end.I liked how Harper Adam's inner turmoil,her relationship with her parents and how sometimes grief is not able to keep together a family is written about.The entry of Malcolm kind of felt forced because this was a complete Harper Adams book and I loved it for that.If you like crime thrillers like me and want to follow a series or even read this one as a standalone like me, this book is for my thriller junkies out there.

Should she bury her sorrows in bottles of booze, or should she try to find some closure to her past and also reclaim some of her reputation back?This book was so well paced, it kept me turning the pages without any effort at all. It was interesting from the very beginning. I loved how the story was more plot-based than just being character-based. The character development was really good, but I found the plot to be more intriguing. The character of Harper was developed well as the story progressed. I also liked the development of the side characters. This is a clean murder mystery, and the twists till the end kept me guessing the kidnapper. Overall, it was really well written and kept me glued to its pages.I'm really thankful for this amazing story and I am looking forward to reading many more books from this author, especially the next books in this series. I recommend this book to all lovers of mystery and murders.
