Great value and fresh scent!!
I absolutely love this Arm & Hammer Powder Laundry Detergent (the Alpine Clean one with 155 loads). The smell is fantastic—it leaves my clothes and towels feeling so fresh and clean without being overpowering. It’s that crisp, natural freshness that makes everything smell just-laundered and inviting. I really appreciate that it comes in such a huge bulk size—155 loads means I don’t have to add it to my grocery list every month. No more running out mid-laundry day! It’s a powder, which I prefer over liquids because it seems to dissolve well and tackle odors effectively (thanks to the baking soda, I assume). Super easy to use: just scoop it right into the machine with your clothes—no measuring hassles or messy pouring. Speaking of the scoop, it’s comically large—way bigger than I need for a normal load—so I ended up repurposing it for something else around the house. Minor thing, but kind of funny. Overall, powerful cleaning, great fresh scent, and excellent value. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an affordable, reliable powder detergent!

ARM & HAMMER Powder Laundry Detergent, Alpine Clean, 9.56 lb, 155 Loads - AND 4 MONTHS!!!
This stuff is remarkable. I hate to even write this review for fear they will change or discontinue it now that I'm keyed in. To the point - it does a better job than any liquid I've tried. It runs circles around liquids for both stain/dirt removal and for deodorizing. Plus, you only need a small amount, I use 1/8-1/4 of the cup that is provided. I purchased my last box on 05/28/2025, and I'm here today to finally buy more. It is 09/30/2025. 4 months on the dot. And at $15 a box, that is the best value in laundry detergent there that I can find. There are only 2 adults in my household we do make a lot of dirty laundry to the tune of 2 loads a day on average, so the detergent was in regular full use the whole 4 months just to give you an idea of my usage. I've always been a price conscious laundry detergent shopper, but the reason I bought this was actually for performance reasons. The fact it is so much cheaper was just gravy. I had gotten sick of how terrible my front-load HE washing machine is at getting clothes clean. Even with all the tricks to bypass most of the HE "enhancements" and using top-o-the-line liquid detergent, I felt like things just don't reach the level of clean I like. And I'm not falling for the "boosters" scam either, maybe I'm crazy, but buying a "booster" to use in every single wash to get it clean is idiotic, the soap companies made their soap less effective and to get the full cleaning power back, you now have to pay for an upgrade (granted, the oxyclean odor blaster and white revive add-ins are amazing, but I shouldn't need to use for every single wash). I began doing some searching and after way too many hours on reddit threads about doing laundry, one thing kept getting mentioned over and over, people have been switching back to powder detergent because it got their clothes significantly cleaner (for those that have newer front loading HE machines). I've read a few theories as to why this is so, the most common and most plausible is that the powder adds a mechanical scouring action into the mix, but it dissolves, so I don't know how much of an impact there could be for maybe 5-10 min of having grit it your wash (longer in cold, shorter in hot, obviously). Then the other reasons for better performance have to do with chemistry, which is when I stop reading. I know this getting long but, I must point out of the converts to powder, the lions share switched to this as it's considered to be better than Tide amongst the Laundry Literatti on reddit. They weren't wrong. They preached "less is more" with this stuff, one going as far as suggesting 6 tablespoons per load. That's a bit extreme for me, but I still only do an 1/8-1/4 of the scooper that comes inside. If I used as much as the box and scooper suggest, they'll never get fully rinsed. TIP - I do always set my machine to run a 2nd rinse cycle now, and I think that's key in getting to work so well. Of course, I still keep bottles of a "for darks" type of liquid for delicates, darks, special items that I want to wash on cold and use a gentle wash. But everything else gets the powder. My only complaint is that Amazon only carries this in the one scent, which is a fine scent, not over powering, is pleasant, I just like a little variety and switch things up once in a while. It lasts so long that even just having a 2nd option to alternate between would be sufficient. But I digress. TLDR: Is good

Best detergent for my needs
I have been using Arm &Hammer powder detergent for years. I used to get it at Walmart, but they don't carry it any more, so I'm glad I can still get it on Amazon. I have tried environmentally friendly detergents, but haven't had much success with getting everything clean. So using this is the compromise. I like this detergent, here's why: Price: 155 loads (or more) for under $15 Cardboard box: no plastic bottles Powder: dissolves fast, leaves no residue (unlike those plastic film pods or sheets that don't always dissolve) Smell: Not a strong, overpowering smell, just a clean smell Efficiency: Gets things clean, gets the smell out (I do a lot of dog laundry). For most loads I use less than suggested and it works fine. On very dirty, greasy things I rub soap directly on to give it a boost.
