Great little “rougher”
As a leather worker this makes a great addition to roughing up leather before the glue. I’ve been impressed with the way it works, and the quality of the product. My only complaint is that I think I got a small one, and would recommend going a little larger than you think. Also I’m not a huge fan of the plastic handle, but it is what it is. Overall, it really does the job, has a great rough service that does work well, and has been a solid tool I always use.

Works and feels good
This is a detail rougher to abrade the smooth surface of leather so cement will adhere properly. It is small, but works well. I have used it to roughen leather pieces much larger than it was designed to do - takes a bit of time. I tis just the right size for prepping to glue things like billets on a Ranger Belt and similar. The handle is textured black plastic, but doesn't feel cheap. It is light weight. The metal is well fit and finished to give it a solid look and feel despite the plastic handle.

Initial review of the Duidus leather roughing tool
I have used the leather rougher daily and have had pretty good results. I will make note of the pattern of the file is such that it does clog up a bit when being used for roughing project edges prior to gluing them. I haven't yet figured out a good way to clean the surface of the file but I will post here whenever I find a method to clean the debris from the file pattern. It does not clog as much on Veg. tan leather but on oil tanned or other chemical tanned leather it seems to clog faster than using a folded piece of 60 or 80 grit open coat sandpaper. That has worked well for my for years and is a very quick and easy way to break the "finish" on the hair side of most leathers, it doesn't need to be pretty, it is simply to give whatever type of leather cement you choose a bit of "tooth" for a more secure bond. This tool is good for light work though or for someone who is a hobby leather crafter. I would recommend it over any other type of roughing tool but it is wise to mark your glue path and lay a straight edge along the line to help it cut an even straight path for the application of the adhesive on both sides of the joint.

Worth the price
I had never used one of these before. I was using a knife to rough up the edges before gluing. This is so much better. It is well made and works like a charm.

NOOOOOOOO
It ok only kinda works if I had to do it again I wouldn't buy it it lightly scuffs but not as good as sand paper I thought because of handle it would be easier to control for small strait strip but actually harder not a great tool because of the way its designed the cutting or sanding surface is not great for soft leather

Could be rougher but it does the job well
I wanted to try one of these for a long time, I generally just use sandpaper to prep leather edges for glue. Figured I'd try this one and was very happy with it. It could be a bit more abrasive, but honestly it works great the way it is and it super easy to control. The size I got is perfect for just gluing edges for sewing too.The rubbery handle has a textured feel too so the tool is very solid and comfortable to use.

cheep - buy a better quality from reputable company
Too cheep, not good quality. I would buy a more expensive one from a reputable company. The teeth at the end to rough the leather are not good, they do not work that great. the shaft is low quality and flexes too much, the plastic molded hand to small and feels cheep. I would not recommend this product, low quality.
