Dunlop Large, Ring Size 7.5-9 Moonshine Ceramic Guitar Slide (34246000001)

I recommend buying in person.
Beware what your finger size is cause these are all on the small side. It's a good slide though, heavy, way longer than necessary though. Since I've found a favorite local shop that sells lots of different slides though, I'll pay $25 for a good one there instead of online, but this one will get your acoustic going. For beginner, I'd get this before any glass or metal slide. Either of those two, you'll want to buy in person.

Best Slide I’ve Used (and I own many)
I have used steel slides, bottleneck slides, half sized glass slides, and a stone slide, but none of them are as comfortable or enjoyable to use. Normally I prefer a narrow slide, because I thought it gave me more maneuverability, but after purchasing and using this slide as my daily driver, I realized a thicker, longer slide gives you more to hold onto and allows your hand to stay in a more natural position, even when playing with capo placed low on the neck. As mentioned above I play with a capo, and I play with a capo pretty much every time I pick up my guitar, my action is already fairly low, but the capo brings the action down even lower, and still the slide performs great. To sum up, if you have not picked up a ceramic slide, buy this one. If you have not used a larger slide, buy this one. Additionally I use this slide on my pinky, so maybe if your a ring finger slide player than the benefits of this slide may not “resonate” with you.

This is the one.
I've been playing for 55 years and recently decided to finally learn slide. I bought two different brass slides. Too harsh. And too heavy - they'd bang on the high E string. Then I tried a Derek Trucks glass slide. That was much better. Light and not so harsh, but a little too roomy once you got your finger in past the opening.I finally ordered the Dunlop 246 Moonshine to see what a ceramic sounded and felt like. This is the one. I'm in love. It is the best of all worlds and the inside material is lovely. It has a slightly rough feel, maybe like a 3000 grit sandpaper. It feels comfy and there is no worry about it slipping.Sounds great too. 10 stars!

Nice Heavy Weight But Not for All Setups
It does what it's supposed to, but I'm having trouble getting used to the odd scraping, dragging sound it makes even on my Jay Turser guitar set up with flat wound completely smooth jazz strings. I'd have thought it would be silent like my glass or brass slides, but give a warmer tone. It makes a horrible dragging, grinding sound on my ancient single pick-up custom built strat style guitar with standard strings. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. It does give a warm, pleasant sound on my three string amped guitar box and my acoustic, though, so I'll give it the 4-star treatment.

Absolute Necessity
If you play slide and haven't tried a ceramic one, give this a try. The tone is creamy and the feel wearing it is just the right touch on the strings. I've use glass and steel and love this slide.

slide wall too thick, too much friction drag on strings, interior surface unappealing
my important factors for slides: purchase on strings, fit, weight, and balance. i use different slides for different guitars, but ceramic personally doesn't fit into any of my uses. it's purchase on strings is too frictional, it's walls are too thick (bringing my slide finger too far away from my muting finger(s) behind the slide, and it's weight and balance are counter-intuitive for me. i use all kinds of slides on electrics, acoustics, laps, old 60s studio students, resos, etc.. i make my own also out of anything i care to try... from glass bottle necks, copper tubing, pvc, wood, etc.. ceramic is my personal least favorite choice. brass is probably my favorite, along with schedule 80 (gray electrical) PVC. very unique slightly muted attack! TRY SCHEDULE 80 PVC!! also, if a particular slide doesn't fit (i'm a pinky guy) i use a plastic 'sleeve' cut from a plastic bottle lid cut to fit and slid into the slide as an adapter. you can also use things like rubber tubing cut into a ring to create a fit. i sometimes place the "ring" into the middle of a longer slide so it acts like a finger stop for depth and creates a new point of balance for the slide.

the only slide i've used for years
i've tried all materials, found i liked ceramic. this is the best one, and the only slide i use. has texture inside for some grip even when sweaty. very durable, no cracks at all after a few years, it's like new. good sustain on my heavy gauge. perfect fit for my pinky with the medium, kinda lucky but it helps haha. so i have literally no complaints. buying a second just because why not

Size?
I ordered a Medium but I may have received a Small?? I'm a average sized male. I could be wrong about the size I received but nonetheless it's to small for my left hand ring finger. I don't have large hands at all. It fit my wife well. I will order another large and give the medium to my wife.

Well made but not my favorite
Choosing a slide is highly personal, this is well made, feels tighter than i thought it would, the tone is dull to my ear compared to the dunlop trucks signature, the wolfram steel martin simpson signature and various brass slides. The anti sweat porous lining is quite rough and irritating. Definitely dont make it your first slide unless you want to experiment with several.

A good choice for slide players looking for something new
I'm one of those slide players with a whole collection of different slides in materials ranging from glass to brass to chrome. I even went for one of the medicine bottle ones once. Currently, this is my favourite. It has a tone that is as articulate as glass, but with some of the depth and warmth that you get from brass. It is one of the few slides I've come across that likes both clean and higher gain tones, and its ceramic structure means it doesn't get foggy, slick and horrible after a few tunes. The only slight quibble comes when selecting sizes, since mine is in an awkward spot where it's a fraction big for my little finger, and I have to really work to get it off again with my ring finger. It also costs a little more than a cheap brass one for those players whose slide isn't their main thing. It's worth it, though.

Not great.
Too small to use on any other than smallest finger.
