Pretty cool
Very cool little ant farm for my 6 year old. Provides a great viewing area and information about how to take care of an ant colony!

Fun!
Fun little adventure. The ants don't live long, but they provided hours of fun while they were alive.

Very cute idea, but be careful!!
I bought this ant farm for my toddler who is 21 mos old. I ordered the ants per the instructions that came with it. Two vials of ants were delivered and I would report that 75% of one vial were alive and 25% of the other vial were alive. Not sure why? We didn't get them shipped during the middle of summer like warnings mentioned in other reviews. The ant farm is very cute and basic. I set up the sand per instructions and dumped the ants in after a short stint in the fridge. In less than 12 hrs they already had tunnels going every which way!We had the ants for about one week and I noticed they really built up the sand against one of the side walls (the real thin part with green caps on the end to connect tubes to other ant farms). I didn't think anything of it until I walked downstairs one morning to see a large ant on my kitchen floor. Upon further inspection, I noticed one of the green caps had been removed and I had about 15-20 ants on my kitchen island! They built the sand up and pushed the cap out!!! (The caps are barely sitting in place and easily dislodged if you're not careful) I ended up having to kill all of the escapees because I was not about to wrangle up some biting freedom-tasting ants and put them back in the farm LOL m. So my suggestion to the company is maybe secure those caps tighter to prevent any future rise-ups from these ants who tried so hard to take over my household HAHA

Buy it!
Love this! The ants were alive at delivery…but I wish the delivery was handled better in the sense that it was basically a guess when they’d show up in the mail. Many survived. My 5 and 2 year old love watching the ants. Worth the money!

Fun; however, Don't Do For Christmas or Winter Time Gift
We did a lot of research prior to purchasing a AntFarm and besides using something like AntsCanada and finding a local provider through their forums, this is the best product for a beginner/children. I had one when ibwas a kid from the same company. You will want to also order an 8 to 10 inch tweezers and either a pipette or eye dropper bottle from somewhere to remove food scraps every two to three days to prevent mold and to water the ants.Remember, since Queens cant be shipped, the ants will only live two weeks to two months if you are lucky. It's very fun to watch them dig; however, I would definitely steer a buyer away from buying as a Christmas gift or if you live in cold weather climates during winter. They give you a voucher for free ants but you still pay shipping. It takes three to five weeks to ship. We got an order for approximately 60 ants, once shipped, they shipped on the coldest part of the year with no protective packaging, to that point and the directions state they monitor weather, and it took several days for them to arrive and they sat over the weekend at the post office due to arriving Saturday night in town. I got them out of the mail box immediately after the post lady delivered them Monday afternoon and still was left with only 13 alive ants after the 24 hour waiting period to get accustom to the farm and 4 more dying withing two days. It was a blast picking out 47 dead ants from the farm with the live ones not very happy. The directions say to email them; however, I don't want the same thing to happen now that it's colder and you can't mix ants or they coups fight and kill each other. It has been fun watching the few ants we have tunnel through the sand.

Great for the kiddo! STEM
My son absolutely loving it, and honestly, so am I! The setup was ridiculously easy – like, two minutes tops and you're good to go. It comes with a few pieces, but nothing complicated at all. Huge win for busy parents like me!What's really cool is the massive window. Seriously, it makes all the difference. My little guy isn't just using it for ants (though we did try that!). He's been fascinated by putting in rolly pollies and other little backyard explorers. And because the window is so big and clear, we can actually see what they're doing – digging tunnels, moving stuff around. It's way more engaging than I even expected. Plus, it comes with sand, which is super convenient.Honestly, I didn't even realize how much he was learning until we started watching together. We talk about how the bugs move, where they go, what they're doing. It's become this unexpected little science lesson that's actually fun! If you're looking for something that's not only entertaining but also sneakily educational, and a great way to bond with your kiddo, you NEED this. It's sturdy, super easy to get going, and provides hours of fascinating observation. Totally worth it! 👍

5yr old loves it
My grandson went bonkers over this. He's already talking about adding on other ant homes to it.

BUYER BEWARE! PARENTS BEWARE!
We ordered this because I had one as a kid and it was an amazing, unforgettable experience. I wanted to share that same joy with my family — but what we got was heartbreaking and dangerous. The first shipment of ants arrived dead, and our kids were in tears. We gave it another shot. The second shipment came in two vials, and again, nearly all of them were dead. More disappointment. More tears. Then it got worse. On the second day, a piece of the enclosure was pushed out by the ants — that’s how flimsy this product has become. Within minutes, ants were loose on our couch, and our child was bitten twice. These ants pack a punch. We had to take our child to the ER.This product is nothing like it used to be. It’s poorly made, unsafe, and deeply upsetting. We’d like a full refund immediately - We would like our money back.
