Stylish graphics that capture the essence of the subjects...
I buy a slimline Flame Tree calendar every year for the kitchen. For the past few years, I've bought their Klimt slim calendars but this appears not to have been produced for 2024 so I had to think again.What I came across was this Angela Harding version in plastic-free packaging and on FSC mix certified paper - and I'm very pleased with it. I like her work and have had a framed print of a blackbird among hawthorn berries hanging on my wall for several years. I feel I must have a calendar whose graphics I can live with given it's with me for the next 12 months.It can be hard to find good calendars in this size that aren't cutesy, tied in to some franchise, cartoonish or simply not for me. The wildlife graphics here are beautiful. They also look wild. There's a gritty edge to them. None of the subjects - whether birds, deer, seals or whippets, to cite a few - look cute but in their stylised elegance, all somehow call to mind the essence of the real animals and birds. Very good value, this is a slim calendar I shall enjoy living with.
