Humax TN 8000 HD + TNTSAT Card

Arrives within a few of days of order. Easy to set up to an old sky dish moved round to 19.2E. At the start of the set up English can be picked making the rest of the set up very easy . Auto scan picked up all the channels and EPG within a few minutes. A nice touch is that on the likes of American programmes the the audio can be changed to the original language if your french isn't great.

Brilliant, works really well. Fitted at home in England, it's helping us improve our French. Small and compact. Quick delivery too!

Assessed solely on usability, functionality, interface and reliability, I would give it five stars. I have previously had other brands of TNT Sat box picked up in French hypermarkets, and this one beats those hands down. With my previous boxes, there was always been some problem such as the unit being unresponsive to presses on the remote control, the subtitles not working all the time or the recording function being dodgy. I have had no such problems with the TN8000HD. I am certain that the Humax TNT Sat boxes are the best TNT Sat boxes available and you won’t find a better one at this time. I have added an external hard drive to mine and it gives reliable live pause and rewind functionality as well as timer recordings.The reason I only give it four stars and not five is down to the physical characteristics of the product. The TN8000HD is a replacement model for the TN7000HD which is no longer available, and unfortunately Humax made some changes which lets this model down compared with its predecessor. The remote control and the buttons on it are smaller than is generally the case for most remotes, and this makes it a bit awkward and fiddly to operate, especially if you have large hands.If you don’t like the remote, you could consider ordering one of these, which came with the TN7000HD model and which will also work on the TN8000HD:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Replacement-Control-HUMAX-RM-H06S-03202-00184/dp/B00YRLH48OThe receiver box itself is also smaller than you might typically expect a satellite receiver box to be, which is not a problem except that the slot for the viewing card is on the side of the box rather than on the front and there isn’t a flap on it, so the card sticks out the side. The USB port which you need to use if you wish to add a hard drive is on the other side of the box rather and not on the back, so the connecting lead can be seen sticking out the other side of the box. This can be impractical if it gets in the way of other appliances, and unless your box is hidden away in a closed cabinet where it can’t be seen, it doesn’t look particularly good.Another irritation is that the mains electric plug. The plug is of course of the French type and you will need an adapter to plug it in in the UK. As the product is intended for the French market I don’t make any criticism of that. However, the plug is also the type which has the voltage converter in the main plug head which makes it large and bulky. Because you will need to use an adapter as well, this makes it especially bulky and untidy looking.Despite all that, I will reiterate that I still believe that the Humax TN8000HD is the best TNT Sat receiver available at this time and probably will be for a while, and I would highly recommend it.
