This book contains two stories from the "Anne of Green Gables" series. All stories are holiday stories written by L.M. Montgomery on either Christmas or New Year's Eve or Day. Most are magazine publications, but some are stories released for the first time. This book was first published in 1995, after Rea Wilmshurst, editor, found a cache of stories in scrapbooks found in L.M. Montgomery's birthplace home. These stories were written in the early 1900's. The settings are during the day when poverty was rampant. Stories range from tales from poor families to tales from wealthy families. Each story, true to L.M. Montgomery's style are upbeat with happy endings, and often meant to teach young people lessons of kindness and giving. As always, L.M. Montgomery's stories are heartwarming and uplifting. If you enjoy the "Anne of Green Gables" series, you will love these stories from an era when life was simpler.

This book contains a nice mixture of Christmas stories. Two, starring Anne Shirley, are taken from other Anne books - we have the time Matthew insisted on puffed sleeves for Anne for us to enjoy, as well as Katherine Brooke's visit to Green Gables. In addition, there are some other excellent little stories to enjoy - happy reunions; the ending of a family feud; the time a Christmas hamper came in very handy when a train was caught in a snowdrift; the cynical children with everything who learned to enjoy sharing with others; the forgotten one - who was not forgotten; these and many others are there to enjoy. This is a delightful collection.

I love Lucy Maud Montgomery books for their delightful characters, humor, and non-preachy wisdom. These stories are drawn from some of my favorite parts of the books. I had a paperback copy, but was glad to find a sturdier hardback copy since I plan on sharing it with kids for years to come

This is a compilation of stories about Christmas from the Anne of Green Gables books. It's great to have them all in one Christmasy book. My daughter loved them.
