Totally Boss, Dude!
This thing is quiet! I mean, you can hear it, but it doesn't disrupt my wife when she's nagging me to do the dishes instead of perfect my craft of airbrushing totally boss custom t-shirts. and I don't have to crank my music while I use it. I still do, but that's because Skynyrd is best when loud, not because I can't hear it over this little dude. Which brings me to my next point. The size. It's good. It's about the size of a desktop computer tower. Not bad for a compressor and a tank. I have all my airbrushing gear in a 5 drawer craftsman roll-away tool chest, and it fits perectly in the bottom compartment next to my special edition Vanna White playboy issue. Which I only have because it's got an interesring article in it. It comes with a regulator and a moisture trap. (I wish my wife would regulater HER moisture trap. Flappin' gums all day.) Which is nice. Because there's nothin worse than gettin almost done with a bitchin' freedom eagle on a black beefy-t when all of a sudden spatters happen. I mean, hey, these colors don't sposeda run! Because the moisture trap keeps it from happening. I guess, overall, it's a solid product. Like, really. It's sturdy and well built. Not all cheap and flimsy. Like my mother in law's cooking. If you're an avid airbrusher like me, you need this compressor!

THE BEST AIRBRUSH COMPRESSOR FOR THE PRICE!!!! JUST AS GOOD AS A IWATA STUDIO.. VERY SIMILAR!
This was an Incredible Purchase! Its Powerful, Quiet, and Extremely Durable. Its very well made and the On/Off Switch is Easily accessible from the rear. Very Well Packaged and Designed. It come with 1/8" out put valve and an 1/4" adapter.. Didn't need to Run to the Hardware store to match the Fittings to the hoses. Just Perfect!!! Trust me; You won't be disappointed... I actually bought it after reading some of the 1 star comments on Amazon just to test it myself and it turns out the one i Received is a 5 Star!!!! Working Pressure at 18psi -25 psi... Constant pressure and i cannot emphasize on HOW QUIET THIS THING IS.. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Great compressor.
I am a taxidermist that specializes in fish. I use this compressor indoors nearly every day. It is quiet enough that I can carry on a conversation while it is running and provides enough air pressure to run my brushes without power loss even at full flow. I love it. The fact that I dont have the deafening sound of a loud compressor ringing in my ears is worth its weight in gold, not to mention the fact that it allows me to concentrate without jumping when the compressor kicks on.

I opted for the Badger brand because I picked up a badger brush and liked the quality of it and was pleased that it's ...
I've been using this compressor lightly for a couple years now. I wanted to learn how to airbrush bodies for radio controlled cars and wanted a small compressor that had a tank and was relatively quiet. I opted for the Badger brand because I picked up a badger brush and liked the quality of it and was pleased that it's made in the USA. (The compressor, however is NOT. China, I think.) Overall I'm pretty happy with this compressor. It's relatively lightweight for it's size and the carrying handle makes it pretty easy to move around if you need to. It has four rubber feet that help keep the vibration to a minimum when it's in use. It's moderately quiet when it's in use. I'm not going to say it's "near silent", it definitely makes some noise but nothing like you'd expect from a multi-purpose or tool compressor. Basically, it doesn't startle me when it kicks on so that's a plus. The tank fills in about a minute or so and will hold enough pressure to shoot for about as long at around ~30psi. I never feel any pressure fluctuations whether the tank is filling or not, so the regulator seems to do a good job of keeping everything stable. Speaking of the regulator, it's a little bit wonky. Mine was mounted at a pretty extreme angle inside the case rather than straight up-and-down like pictured. This doesn't affect the performance of the unit at all, but it is a little weird. Otherwise it works very well. The knob on the top adjusts your working pressure and it immediately shows on the dial what you're working with. Again, since mine was mounted kinda crooked it makes reading the dial a little difficult sometimes. I'm sure I could loosen it up and straighten it out, I just haven't bothered to yet. The included moisture trap does its job well, too. The glass is very transparent and it's immediately visible just how much water it's trapping, which is nice. The water trap has a pressure relief valve on the bottom so you can empty the tank if you want. My biggest (and really only) complaint with the unit is the placement of the power switch. Like other reviews have pointed out, the switch is on top of the motor, which is on top of the tank, which is on the underside of the cover. You literally have to slide your hands under the cover and dig around for the power switch and move it forward. People with wide hands or sausage fingers probably can't even reach the switch. I find that it's relatively easy once you've done it a few times but it's incredibly inconvenient. I think if you really wanted to improve the unit you would remove the switch and re-wire a new toggle switch to the outside of the case. Honestly, that's what Badger should do... Overall, it's a great little compressor that's small, has a good tank, puts out little noise and gets it's job done well. It has a few quirks but I find them tolerable enough to continue using it semi-regularly.

Major improvements make this the best value buy
First, some major design improvements made by Badger since they first released this: the power switch is now easily accessible on the back of the motor unit; the safety release valve no longer rattles against the tank when the compressor is on; the compressor is quieter than previous version and the motor is higher power (fills faster), the hose fitting on the regulator is now 1/8 inch to fit most airbrush hoses without an adapter; gauge is now easier to read and can be angled to preferred viewing. This is the cheapest high-quality tank compressor for airbrushes you are going to find, IMO. It is quiet enough that you won't be bothered by it unless you put it right up to your ear or are extremely fussy, and it only runs a small part of the time unless you use a high volume airbrush and keep the trigger down constantly for very long periods of time (unlikely unless you have a very large paint supply attached). The tank fills from empty in just under a minute. Most of the time the compressor turns on, which it will do automatically at 3 bar, it's only topping off the tank, so it will run about 20 seconds and shut down automatically (at 4 bar). Unless you are on a serious painting marathon, it won't turn on all that often. Even laying down a primer coat on a 1/48 scale fighter jet model, I find it only kicks on a couple times. I tend to use about 20 psi when I'm doing this and work in sections, so the trigger is down for maybe 20-30 seconds at a time at most. My only complaint is that the gauge on the regulator is a 100 psi gauge. The tank fills to 57 psi as it's operating maximum. I bought a 60 psi gauge of the same size for less than $5 and swapped it out, which makes it much easier to dial in the exact regulated pressure I want. I'd recommend this to anybody who owns this compressor. Just look for a gauge that reads up to 60 psi, has a 1.5 inch dial and a 1/8 inch NPT connection. The NPT connection needs to be on the bottom or the side. Some gauges come with the NPT connection in the back center, but that will make the dial impossible to read unless you remove the cover since it will be facing the inside of the cover. Pros - Tank+regulator = completely consistent and steady airflow Quiet when running Only makes noise when running, which is not much unless you're doing a massive job Portable - handle on top and about the weight of a medium sized carry on bag Solid steel case protects the parts well Price point is extremely competitive for similar products Cons - Gauge runs to 100 psi even though tank fills to 57 psi, would be easier to read with a 60 psi gauge.

Unassembled regulator ☹️
Product came with regulator unassembled, had to remove case to put on, with no assembly instructions. Nice compressor works great, but for the money I was disappointed it wasn’t assembled, and warranty is only a year? Competition was 5 years. It says it was tested but how could it be tested never assembled? Great compressor but, should be open box ready.

Great compressor
A number of reviews complain about the regulator being sheared off or broken. Badger must have corrected this issue because the regulator came in a separate box tucked away in a safe spot in the box, along with a complimentary roll of Teflon tape. I took the top of the case off so I could check all of the fittings for leaks. I didn't find any leaks on any of the already screwed in fittings. And was happy with how easy it is to take the case on and off. It's only 6 screws along the bottom of the case. Performance wise I use the compressor with an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS to paint miniatures. And it works fantastically.

Terrible QC, AVOID purchasing.
Opened the box and it was immediately obvious that this was going to be a "bad unit". The regulator was rotated so far out of position that it was scratching the metal side. However, the regulator was not loose, more on that in a bit. Decided to fire it up, since it might have just "looked bad". It ran quiet, but I noticed the pressure was not building so I ran my hand around the unit and discovered air leaking from 3 separate locations. I attempted to tighten the regulator as that was one of the places it was leaking. The leak was at the connection between the tank and the regulator. It was already very tight and it would not budge. It was also leaking from the safety valve on the bottom as well as somewhere within the pump itself. I didn't bother taking it apart to check where. I boxed it up and returned it. I have decided to go to the hardware store and buy a 2-gallon hotdog tank that is rated for under 60 dB. Will run me 100$ cheaper even after buying the necessary adapters. TL;DR At the end of the day, this was too expensive for so many issues and a tiny tank.
