I usually stick to duel POV and this is single, told from Jude’s POV (except the epilogue). But there was so many good reviews I thought I’d give it a shot (although I don’t always agree with the high reviews of some books)This was a wonderful story! It was touching, emotional, sweet, funny, heartbreaking, but not over the top angsty.Jude and Blake have a cute meet on a rooftop at a party and their banter is wonderful from the start. Jude has trust issues and sticks to one night stands. Blake tells him right away he can’t sleep with him. They reconnect and become friends. Much to Jude’s reluctance but he can’t help it the more they hang out.Their friendship is truly wonderful. Once they hookup (around 50%) they have a wonderful relationship. Very hot and steamy. They are always together and so sweet. The blanket fort was so sweet. 🥰 Jude trusts Blake, and that is not something he does ever because of his past.There is a breakup here which I usually hate but in this case it was warranted and understandable. Jude accidentally found out Blake was keeping a huge secret from him that hurt him deeply. Blake had tried to tell Jude a few times but other things were coming up that stopped him. Blake was honest with Jude right away after. Although I think Blake should have told Jude more about the information (not saying what info cause of spoilers). Although hearing it from someone else may have helped more. Blake was determined to win Jude’s trust and love back. I really enjoyed Blake’s determination in this and all he did. This had a wonderful HEA. I love when the epilogue jumps ahead so we can see them in the future.The side characters, Jude’s other friends, Blair, Nora, and Steph were great and were their for Jude even though he made it hard sometimes.I loved Jude’s dad and mom! I was sad that his mom wasn’t around later. Without them Jude definitely would have had a very different life they truly saved him! I loved seeing his connection with his dad and the visits with him were so sweet. Blake’s first time meeting him made me giggle. Sarah I hated and I would have the same feelings Jude did with her.

Pretty low angst considering the buildup, just overall very sweet enjoyable quick read. Pretty good voice actor. No reread. 1.5/5 spice

The limit does not exist. I am left in awe after this storytelling.I needed - I searched - my soul needed - a story to be told in a way this one was. What way? Perfect in its imperfection, heartfelt, intriguing, my favorite kind of humor, writing and relation build, leaving you with a thought and words unsaid, original and touching. When you start and you just know that this will be all the things and so much more. It was an absolute read. Every word was a heartbeat on its own in my system. A book tailored for me. How I love finding humble gems among stones.….“Well, I was wondering…. If, maybe… you’d make an exception for me?” - “You already are my every exception.”

One of the things I like best about Briar’s writing is it is so believable. This story could have really happened and she just reported it to us. Reality makes a story very enjoyable, it means it could really happen and so the love expressed can honestly be found.

This was another wonderful story from this talented author. Beautifully written to encompass tragedy and loss. An absolutely incredible story that packs an emotional wallop. High recommended.

This is the first book I've read by Briar Prescott, and I am SO glad I came across this series because this was an overall great MM romance.The dialogue/banter throughout this book is phenomenal!! I loved the main characters Jude & Blake, as well as the side characters. Plot was unique, and I was pleasantly surprised with how everything unravels in the story.Really looking forward to reading the next book in the series "And Then You"

In hundreds of books read this year, this is a gorgeous gem. Two guys with difficult pasts find each other. Their love story is somewhat appealing. I finished this book because I liked the character Blake. He has really good lines and makes the story interesting. I didn’t care for the Jude character.

What an uncharacteristic ending, not the typical “happily ever after“ that we get in most books this happily ever after was unique to the couple, and the first I’ve seen like this in pretty much all the books I’ve read.I was unsure about this book when I first started reading but it surprised me how good it was. it was very well written I like the depth of the characters and the story was quite unique so this made for a very enjoyable read and very good love story, not all rainbows and unicorns, it had the ups and downs that you would normally expect when you’re betrayed by someone you love.

Quite a premise with coincidences that are hard to swallow but boy does that not matter because the story is all heart. Heartfelt and sweet and rings true. Normal people would react like Jude the protagonist in all the circumstances he is out through and that authenticity makes this a lovely read

I didn't know what to expect when I decided to read this new to me author but wowIt's funny, sarcastic, poignant and so very very real. A beautifully written love story about flawed humans.I laughed, I cried, and didn't want it to end even though the epilogue is epic

Simply fantastic. I have had so many DNF books recently that this was like a glass of water in the dessert. New to me author and I'll be checking out everything ever written now. The style of writing, the character development and the beautiful level of snark across it all is just superb. Genuinely loved this book start to finish.

This book is all kinds of wonderful. Funny and heartwarming. I loved the characters and how they grow together. The perfect feelgood book.
