Best heavy mounting bracket!
If you have a heavy item to hang, this is the way to go. Make sure you use anchors or find studs

Great support
I live in earthquake country and this has held my hutch in place for the last three earthquakes of 7.0 and lower. I strongly suggest this product.

Great for heavy artwork
We were hanging a very heavy large piece of solid wood art. This worked very well because it was long enough to fit into two studs. Shorter versions would have only been in one stud, a lot less strength & support.

Pottery Barn Exact Match
During our move we lost the part of the cleat that attaches to the wall for a large Pottery Barn mirror. Pottery Barn uses French cleats for all their floating shelves and this mirror, and Pottery Barn does not sell replacement hardware for their products. This is an exact match of the part attached to the mirror and fit perfectly onto this part that attaches to the wall. The Pottery Barn cleat is 36 inches and this one is 41 inches, it’s soft aluminum so I expected to cut it. But since the mirror is 46 inches wide I didn’t even have to cut it and you don’t see it behind the mirror.

Well made, would definitely recommend
Overall I would definitely recommend this and purchase it again if I have need for another cleat. I mounted a HUGE upholstered solid wood queen headboard that is even taller than it is wide. The included hardware is more than enough to get the job done, and the cleat seems super strong (not flimsy or flexible). There are plenty of holes on both sides of the cleat to make sure that you can mount to studs if you feel like you need to.I found that the easiest method was to mount the bracket against my headboard first, then lift it up into place. I marked that bracket that was already on the headboard (with bright red lipgloss, because that's what I had handy, lol), then placed it on the wall where I wanted it above the bed. Then I set down the headboard, and using the red mark on the wall, drew a level line across the wall and attached the bracket to the wall. Lifted the headboard back up onto the cleat, and done. Perfect. That was a couple of months ago, and I've had no issues with it at all.The only reason that I rate this as 4 stars rather than 5 is the tiny inch long level that comes with it just isn't suitable for this task. You should use a longer level to make sure that this is hung precisely, since unlike hanging a wire on picture hangers you have no recourse to adjust level after it's attached to the wall. That being said, you do have some wiggle room to slide the item you're hanging left and right on the cleat, which I found helpful.

It hasn't fallen down
I used this french cleat to hang an IKEA KALLAX. Not certain of the actual weight but it is the 4x2 model so it is pretty heavy.I was nervous about letting go of the KALLAX after hanging it for the first time but it didn't budge. Just make sure you hit a couple studs and it should be fine. This french cleat has holes at least every inch. That makes it very easy to ensure you can hit a stud in the wall no matter where you decide whatever you are hanging should go.It came with screws for the wall and for the piece you are hanging. It also has a very small bubble level that clicks into a channel on the wall mount. This was definitely helpful when hanging. The piece I hug will be used for shoes. Once it is full it will be holding 16 pairs of shoes. I don't really foresee any issues with the weight.I have another project coming soon to do a floating entertainment center. I will most likely use another one of these.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC TOOL.
This is an AMAZING tool. I bought a new headboard and researched how to hand it on the wall permanently. The internet talked about a French Cleat but stated that most carpenters build them from wood. That was out of the question because I'm a 70+ woman and have no skills for sawing wood. Then youtube talked about this metal french cleat. I am so happy I got it. The headboard is heavy! I ordered the 48" cleat because the headboard is 60" wide. This cleat spanned 3 wall studs so it installed very sturdily. This cleat is quite thin so whatever you hang will be almost flush with the wall. This would work great for hanging mirrors and other heavy stuff. Whoever came up with this thing was a genius! It is a great product. I would highly recommend one for anything you want to hang safely. This headboard will never fall. It was also easy to install--all the screws, etc. were included. You just need an electric drill, a stud finder, a measuring tape and your good to go. Even a 70-year-old lady can do it. I am SO happy with my project.
