Fizik Bar Gel - 4 Pieces (No Tape)

I've been struggling with hands numbness and have tried a myriad of gloves and bar tapes but none have worked as well as these pads. Simple to install, these are amazingly effective and have worked liked nothing I've ever tried before. I have them on all my bikes now.

I ordered 3 sets of these to install on my 2 road bikes and my wife's road bike. The gel bars are thin, solid, sticky, and can be cut to fit your handle bar. You get 4 pieces per set and would install the straight pieces on the drop and the curved pieces near the hoods. You will have to unwrap your handle bar (if already wrapped), peel off sheets off of the gel bars, stick the gel bars to the handle bar, then wrap the bar with your favorite bar tape. The gel bars can be removed, washed, and reinstalled, so you will only ever need one set per bike count you own. With the gel bars, the handlebar is much more comfortable to hold and keeps you well insulated from the energy robbing vibration. I highly recommend this product.

I ride a single speed bike, after replacing the stock bar grips I wanted something with more cushion for the bumps that the city streets have to offer. The Fizik Bar Gel paired with SRAM super cork bar tape is a much welcome upgrade. Even though I have drop handlebars I used both sections on the top as I rarely go down into the drops. This gives an even more padded cushy feel, it is as if I have a brand new bike. I also used to wear biking loves and the bars actually feel better without them. Installation was a breeze just wrap them under your bar tape they both have a little adhesive feel to the underside so they will not slip and slide as you apply the tape. I would highly recommend these to anyone who does a considerable amount of riding.

I had the Planet Bike ones that were sold on here. Those were very gummy and smooshy like glue. They actually smashed under the bars over time. These by comparison are like a harder durometer silicone it holds it shape way better. They still dampen bumps rather well and improve comfort over the PB ones. I'd recommend a larger length bar tape it seems I had to wrap my bars quite tight to get the regular length tape to fit right. Due to the tape being wrapped so tight it kinda squeezed a bit of the cushy dampening out.

I used these gel pads, along with some Fizik performance bar tape, when I bought a 3T Ergonova handlebar. Yes, this stuff makes the bars thicker, but since I'm not racing anyone I'll just suck up the miniscule loss of aero and ride in comfort. I did end up using some electrical tape on the ends to secure the gel pads right where I wanted them, which made the main bar wrap over them go much more smoothly. I rode mostly on the hoods and the tops, so I used the two straight strips along the flat tops of the Ergonova bar. It made them very comfortable, and I've put thousands of miles on the bike with these installed. Very happy with them. When I swap this handlebar over to my new bike if the pads come off nicely and still look good I'll reuse them, or else I'll buy another set.

I bought this product in an attempt to remedy some moderate palm pain I experienced on longer rides. Initially, I thought I simply needed to be fit to my bike, which did improve some things, but the palm pain remained. When it came time to replace my bar tape, I decided to pick this up and throw it on underneath the new tape.I'm pleased to say that this Fizik Bar Gel alleviated about as much pain as possible. Of course, I still get physically worn out, but no longer in the palms. I no longer have to cut my rides shorter than I'd prefer, thanks to this inexpensive product. Also, the gel feels super durable, and will likely hold up to plenty more wrappings in the future.There are a few things that could be considered downsides, but to me, they are not. First, the product adds a degree of trickiness to wrapping fresh tape; keeping the tape taut and the bar gel flush with the handlebar. The underside of the gel bar has a natural stickiness to it, but it is not adhesive. Unless your handlebar is brand new or 110% clean, you may have some trouble keeping the gel bar stuck to the handlebar during wrapping like I did.Second, while the gel bar is extremely dense and probably only a millimeter or two thick, it does add a bit of girth to your bar. I have an older 26.0mm handlebar, so it's not a big deal to me -- I actually enjoy this added girth. Those with 31.8mm bars who feel they already have a hard time getting a good grip due to smaller hands may not appreciate the extra girth.So, if you're properly fit to your bike and are experiencing hand/palm/wrist pain, you should really consider picking up Fizik Bar Gel.

This gel doesn't need to stick very much and it doesn't . Like all stickers make sure not to touch the backing . Mock it up first the best you can and then cut it on a flat surface . Unevenness might show up thru you bar tape . Very comfortable under skinny bar tape . I wouldn't buy again .

I used this gel tape with some thick Fizik wrap on my aluminum framed road bike. Aluminum bikes always seem like a rough ride to me, but this (and thick bar tape) damp out all the shock. I run small tires (23s) and they don't do a great job at absorbing shock, so padding is necessary. They install easily under the tape and are sticky enough to hold themselves in place during the install but won't leave goo behind if you need to remove them later (like for cable replacement).If you're on the fence, just get them. You're already looking at it and reading reviews, you're debating if it's worth it, so just do it, you won't regret it, especially on longer rides and over crappier pavement.
