The picture on Amazon shows a wood that's medium to dark brown in colour and in the description it says Item Weight 700g. What I received is very light in colour and is very very lightweight, weighing only 315g, and it's visibly full of air holes... so nothing like a normal hardwood used for joinery. I can only assume it's made of balsa wood which is technically a hardwood but at less than half the weight advertised, and as a wood that's not as strong as most softwoods, like pine, you're better off buying the pine option, or paying more for oak, or shopping elsewhere. You definitely could not leave this wood exposed to the weather and you'd need to thoroughly protect it with primer/undercoat/topcoat. I'm returning this one.
