After reading other reviews, I was a little concerned about quality, but this arrived in great shape. I was well wrapped and very soft. No hard spots and a very nice terracotta color. I can't wait to try it!!

Needs a good amount of working and prepping. Dries out during pinch pots and coil pinching. Can make it work with effort.

Ready to use and not dry

This Clay was helpful to let our children experience ancient/colonial pot, making and pit firing. We were advised to add sand to the Clay before shaping/firing.recommend Andy Ward ancient pottery videos. There are many other tips I could share but don’t have time. Enjoy your creating! We fired in a metal structure using palettes for fuel. Kept fire going 4 plus hours & all three pieces vitrified!

I purchased a mini pottery wheel for my 12 year old son for Christmas. I was on the lookout for some clay to go with it and this was a good price--a lot cheaper than the lighter colored clay. It is good quality clay and works very well. Maybe the one down side is that it looks messier because of the dark color, and I'm not sure if it will be harder to get stains out, but really any clay is messy and you probably should use aprons and tools that are fine to be stained so I recommend this, especially for the better price.
