Entry Level Resin Vertical Blown Bawu - Yunnan Ethnic Chinese Free Reed Flute (Key of G)

I purchased the bawu in key of G. It took a while to arrive because of the covid pandemic, but it arrived within the expected time period! It is a very pretty instrument with a lovely sound and is well packaged to ensure no damage during transit. It is essential to know that when it says key of G, the middle note when you cover three fingers is the G, not the lowest note on the instrument. This may be different from some flutes with the lowest note being the key of the instrument. Also, note that modern Chinese orchestras tune to 442 hz, not 440 hz! So your tuner may seem a bit 'off' if you don't change the settings. Happy playing!

Ordered two vertical blown Bawus on 3/16/20 and arrived on 5/20/20. While one is made of rosewood and another is resin, they both look similar, well-made, nice looking, and sound nicely. Like them better than rosewood Hulusis with extended-range. Wish there are also extended-range versions available and the reeds sound better in higher notes. 😁
