New Catholic Bible: Standard Edition

Great for following mass
A great bible for following mass. Text is small but readable, and means the bible is reasonably compact.Notes are extensive, introductions to books are great, and the liturgical calendar at the back is fantastic. Having the entire three year cycle calendar means you can find that days readings with ease.My only criticism would be that the binding is glued, not sewn. However, for the price and what you get, this is perfectly understandable.

It is a Bible, contains only the truth
It is a prayer book, I use all the time. The word of God is never enough. I recommend it to all.

Great compact Bible!
I bought the 'compact edition', which is small, but quite 'thick'/chunky. At first I thought I wouldn't like that, but then I realised, I could open it up and it STAYED open! Which is great! I also like the fact that it has 3 ribbons, and the notes are really quite interesting-thought provoking in places, especially the book of Tobit I'm now reading with a whole new view-point! I also like being able to look up where certain readings are read in the Liturgical year (and knowing that these are the exact same words I hear in church-as it's the Jerusalem translation with the Grail psalms),all in all I think it's very good value for money.

Beautiful product
Excellent quality product. The covers are very strong and solid and the pages easily to turn as the paper used feels very soft to touch, like silk style paper. It has two strings of different colour wihich I find very useful to mark pages. Content is comprehensive and with lots of extra information on the bible books. Love it.

Good and bad
Good points:- handy size, and the text is NOT too small in the Standard edition, although the notes may be for some- it's the original Jerusalem Bible, which was thankfully not deformed by gender-inclusivist mistranslations- certainly not the most 'literal' translation, but written in beautiful English and many of its paraphrases are very insightful- the term 'Yahweh', which was never used by Jesus or His Church, is systematically replaced by 'the Lord'- two useful ribbon bookmarks- sturdy cover and binding- reasonably pricedBad points:- excessively thin, easily damaged paper- distracting bleed-through from opposite side of page (so bad in fact that you may be tempted to return the book)- scandalously unfaithful modernist notes, many of which directly undermine the divine inspiration of the Sacred Scriptures themselves
