Not exactly for beginners
It's a A2/B1 level. Great book if you've finished a textbook and get started on stories. Once you are confident in finishing this book, you're ready for reading articles or watching movies in french.

An Excellent Book And Guide
This is a must read for any aspiring student of the French language. Thirty carefully written short stories with detailed explanatory notes and test questions are invaluable but what makes it really outstanding are the free audio files. Each story is read at a slow speed by a native speaker so one really learns French as it is spoken by natives of that country. This is a priceless resource as it is impossible to learn French without listening to a native speaker of the language. Dictionaries and Grammar books may help a person to learn and understand written French but without listening to a native speaker it is impossible to have any real appreciation of the language.
