The NEEWER 3PCS Neutral Density Filter Set is an essential tool to have in your gig bag when you are a filmmaker. Offering three different filters, these gels help control lights (such as a practical that is too bright) and can be used for creative effects.My only complaint is that they are too thin. Gels from other companies are more substantial. If they don't hold up, I will update this review.

ND gels are very helpful for regulating light output between different lighting fixtures of varying power levels. Lighting fixtures have different minimum output, and gels can be a good way to help lower that output. Or when using a two or three head power pack, you may need to vary the output of each head beyond what the pack variators can do on their own. Also great for fixed output continues lighting. ND filters are an essential part of lighting gear. These are very well made and do their job very well. There are three levels of neutral density dampening and the sheets are quite large, in many cases they can be cut down to suit your light. They are also very useful to match ambient and practical lighting environments. These Neewer gels are exactly what I need, and I have come to count on them. I highly recommend these gels when you need sheets of ND.

Nothing to complain-about or dislike about these three neutral density gels, each with a different strength: ND3, ND6, and ND9. Their 16" x 20" size allows you to mount them in front of all but the largest lights and they work exactly as they are intended.The square cardboard box/tube they come-in has an additional square cardboard stiffener on the inside which makes the box quite stiff and allows you to store the gels in their original box - knowing they will be protected when you take them on location.

These are really thin compared to the main gel companies out there, and I think they won't stand up to studio use very well. If you are really careful using them, they should be ok… but I would rather have a thicker and sturdier gel for my usage.

The three sheets are the correct darkness density levels that I expected. I wanted to hang something in front of a neon sign so it could be legible during streaming and installing a dimmer was not going to work. The sheets worked as expected and provided great results, I'll end up using the darkest one. Sorry for the small bad photo but it was the best I could get when I was testing out the different films for how much light it diffused and how legible the sign was.

These are good ND films and they let you knock down the power of lights already at the lowest output, or keep the power high for a specific flash duration. Good to have on hand.
