This book describes love from various perspectives including religious
This book describes love from various perspectives including religious, philosophical, psychological, etc. The wonderful conclusion of this book is that all the different perspectives agree that love is a necessity for true joy, happiness and purpose. I love how a cardiologist/scientist concluded that the heart is more than an organ to pump blood, it is the vessel of kindness to love one another. It even went a step further to describe that love is a skill that needs continuous work as well as it should be a societal concern in general and some possible ways to address this concern.

Must read for understanding Love from a scientific & emotional perspective.
This book puts it all together. The scientific & emotional responses behind love. Its interesting to see how the brain scans can verify the emotions you feel. I liked how Dr. Zadeh broke down the different stages of love along with the different emotions in the first 3 to 5 years vs later years. The ForgottenArt of Love is a must read for married couples or couples in a relationship, that are looking for a long term rewarding life together.

What a terrific read
In this beautifully written book Dr. Zadeh encourages the reader to look inward and to realize that loving is a choice every day to prioritize a healthy love relationship. There is an abundance of food for thought in this book, which I found to be an absolute pleasure to read. I’m looking forward to reading it a second time as I am certain there is much to gain by exploring Dr. Zadeh’s insights further. I’d highly recommend this to you.

Stands on the Shoulders of Fromm's book, adds much of value from a wider perspective
It's hard not to think of Eric Fromm's The Art of Loving when I pick up this new book, The Forgotten Art of Love. The first had been so influential. Almost a religion. What might this new book of a similar title bring to the table? We certainly are in need of as much, if not more, love now than back-in-the-day when Dr. Fromm wrote his book. Dr. Zadeh addresses my concern from the get go. In his introduction, he tells the story of his reading Fromm's book when he was a teenager, and how it affected him. As he developed his practice as a cardiologist, he began to see dimensions of love that were not covered in the earlier book. He had to write his own. If you read it, and you liked Fromm's book, then you'll be glad that you have this one as well. There are many kinds of love, and they play different roles in our lives. From self love, through the varities of interpersonal love, to love of place, of country, of ideals, these various love connections have different stories in the body, especially the heart. The author also notes that some of our love behavior is instinctive, and with evolutionary significance. The altruistic effort to commit to supporting and furthering the well being of another is a crucial love phenomenon. Where would we be without it? We enter into love relationships for our personal joy, then find that the love comes from creating joy for the other. There are so many lessons! In today's world, we might wonder about the role of love beyond the neighbor. Does love have a role in society? Dr. Zadeh claims that love wants everyone to have happiness and well-being. Love in action here would have political consequences. Not at all like Fromm's book, yet touches on those themes as well as many more!
