An excellent choice for a beginning quadcopter.
The media could not be loaded. Holy Stone has created an excellent beginning quadcopter in the HS110D. I have two other Holy Stone quadcopters and each has its merits, but this is by far my favorite.I took it out for the first time today and the experience was great so I was excited to share my views right away. (see video)This is the most responsive and easiest to control of the three Holy Stone products I own. My first time out with the HS110D, I was able to fly it several times without one crash. For beginners, this is great. The controller/transmitter: This is a very well designed controller. The quadcopter responds exactly as you would expect it to with the throttle/heading and directional controls. Everything is well placed and easy to use without taking your eyes off the quad. The display is very informative and clear so with a quick glance you know which of the 4 speed modes you are in, whether or not you are taking video, and which flight mode(headless or normal) you are in. It also comes with an easily attachable accessory for your smartphone. The calibration, start/landing, flip and speed mode buttons are well labeled. Four AA batteries are required and not included, but they are easy to insert with no need for a screwdriver as with some others I've seen. The battery: The HS110D only comes with one battery, but it is a superior battery to any I have used. I did not time my battery use, but I was able to use the HS110D for a good 10-15 minutes. The manual says it has a maximum flight time of 10 minutes, but I know I had the power on longer than that. I took a lot more video than the I posted (7 minutes and 13 seconds), but didn't want to bore you too much. Other batteries I have used with quads last maybe 7-8 minutes. The 1.5 hour charging-time estimate is pretty accurate. You may want to invest in another battery for longer use. The battery is charged while inserted in the copter using the included USB charging cable which is included. I have to say the charging cable is one of the sturdiest I have seen. The quadcopter: The HS110D seems pretty sturdy. Keep in mind though that this is a delicate instrument. If you are just starting, go to a wide-open space with grass or some other soft surface. It comes with propellor guards that are not attached when you open the box, but are easily snapped in place. Make sure you snap them all the way in. It also includes two extra guards as well as a replacement for each propellor and replacement landing gear. The addition of landing gear to this design makes safe landings much easier than other quadcopters that have no landing gear. Forward and left-right flips are pretty easy. The camera: I was a little skeptical of the wide angle lens, but I have to say, I really appreciate the view now having taken several videos. The resolution is very nice. There is some interference when taking video/photos into the sun. The included 4GB memory card has plenty of space for lots of videos and photos. My 7+ minutes of video did not even use 200MB of space, less than 10%. The card is easily removable, and Holy Stone included an adapter to plug it into your computer for transferring your videos to your computer. The photos are stored in JPEG format and the videos are in AVI format. It would be nice if the camera could remember the time and date, but without an extra battery, that's impossible. The camera's lens is stationary, unlike other quads which allow you to adjust the angle, but the lens is capable of picking most if not all of what you'd want. When you long-press the photo button on the controller, the controller beeps to let you know you are taking video. The beeping continues until you long-press the button again. This is very helpful to remind you and confirm that you are taking video.Customer service: I have not had to contact Holy Stone for any help with this quadcopter, but I can say from past experience, their customer service is exceptional. They will go above and beyond to help you with any problems to make sure you are happy with your purchase. The only negatives to the HS110D: A second battery would be nice.THE BOTTOM LINE. If you are looking for an easy to control quadcopter without spending the big bucks, this is an excellent choice. There are less expensive choices out there, but "you get what..."There is a free app so you can control the HS110D and get a FPV (first person view) with your smartphone which I have not yet tried. This is definitely an interesting aspect which I will explore in the future. I will update my review when I have had time to experiment with that.

Great drone! Battery design and other improvements over the already great F181!
OK - this is my 4th(!) Holy Stone Drone - and it's another winner. I think this drone is closest in comparison to my F181W (which I have also reviewed). The HS110 was very easy to control. My 9-year-old daughter was given this drone and she likes it the best. The controller is almost (if not exactly) the same as the HS110 FPV. The battery is much easier to access and charge and comes in a sliding plastic case. No need to plug in the little connector and stuff it into a small compartment. Alas, only one battery is included though. The camera is securely fixed on to the drone and the images look good when the memory card (included!) is inserted in your computer. Pictures taken using the wifi on your phone look great too. Flying using the remote and VR goggles (no 3D - there’s only 1 camera, but still pretty cool!) is easy and jitter free. This drone has flown in the house and, like my others, has smacked every wall and ceiling and piece of furniture. It have survived without incident. Holy Stone does include many spare parts should you need - but I'd assume you'd have to be a kamikaze to seriously damage the drone.Flight dynamics are similar to the 110 and 181, though it seems to keep its position even better than those models when it is hovering.All-in-all, another solid flyer from Holy Stone!

Great performance, easy to fly, amazing customer service. You can't go wrong with the Holy Stone HS110D
The media could not be loaded. Hello, this is my review of the Holy Stone HS110D Drone.I'm new to drones and got my kids, ages 8 and 6, each one in the last couple of weeks. They both have birthdays close to Christmas. Our first one was a Holy Stone F181C, which is a wonderful flyer. The kids were having so much fun with it, I felt I'd better get another one, the HS110D.This drone is SO easy to fly! It's pretty much ready to go right out of the box. Just charge the battery and, if you wish, snap on the propeller guards. Having learned on the F181C, my 6 year old was flying this less than an hour after opening the box. And boy does this thing fly well and easy.Holy Stone has made some significant improvements here. First, the battery changes out in seconds. It just slides right out with a squeeze and a fresh one slides right in. No fumbling with connectors anymore. The battery itself is an upgrade, getting maybe 25% or more of additional flight time. The controller, too, has been upgraded. The controls are intuitive, and the display tells you everything you need to know. It has a spring bracket that holds your smart phone, which gives you a real-time view from the camera, whether you're filming or not. Very cool. If desired, you can also use your phone as the controller, with the free app you get from the app store or Google Play. The video here is from today at some abandoned mining operation just outside of town. This is pretty much my first flight without the kids, and without significant wind. It flies easily and quite nimble. When I wised up and put it in headless mode i could concentrate more on what I was seeing on my phone and rotate it to the view I wanted. This is going to be very fun. I'm still lacking the confidence to fly where I can't actually see the drone, but was tempted. Cant be wrecking my kid's drone, though. At least not yet.And I really have to mention Holy Stone's amazing customer service. I've had a few interactions with them and they're extremely helpful and available. Honestly, I've never seen more helpful, motivated and knowledgable customer service ever. That, to me, is a game changer right there. Their website even has a live chat feature if you're having trouble with anything, and they apparently all fly these.TLDR, you can buy this drone with confidence, and if for a gift you're about to be a hero. I hope this helps.
