We have had a huge problem with carpenter bees in the portico between the house and garage. It is sealed and painted, but the darn things just kept drilling holes. Hubby put up a trap, which worked but I don't like killing pollinators. Tried this and after a day or three the bees...just...went away.

I have heard from multiple folks that hanging a hornets nest near a structure will deter all sorts of wasps and bees. Our particular issue is with wasps. I confess that I have not put these to use for very long, so I cannot address how well they do at chasing wasps away. I consider this a review of the product itself and I can talk about that. They assembled very easily. The come flattened out into a disk and all you do is expand it, much like a Japanese lantern. Clip in the hanger things, and you are ready to go. I read in the instructions that they should be under a protective eave or, if in a tree, a very dense one. I took this to mean that they are not particularly waterproof and I have sprayed them heavily with clear polyurethane. If these things turn out be a miraculous cure for my wasp problems, I will return here and update this review.
