A pearl of great price
This is a book of great value. I would recommend it to any sincere seeker after Truth.Situated amidst the towering snow-clad mountains of Himalaya in Tibet, the story is about author's real-life journey to that mysterious and isolated land, the roof of the world, at the time before the Chinese invasion set in and deeply disrupted the life of that unique country where time seemed to have stopped in its tracks. The author gives an interesting account of how he had met some of the great Tibetan masters of wisdom and how they led him on to a several months long journey of discovering and understanding the Real.Unlike many other spiritual and esoteric teachings, which only burden the reader with additional ideas instead of showing him, how to be free of them, the masters' teaching goes straight to the heart of all that is false and exposes it for what it is. When that false is understood through an awareness moment to moment, it dissolves away and all that is left is that which is Undissolvable and has nothing false in it - the Truth. They show him how an individual throughout the world is bound by his or her own thought-feeling reactions and formulations, which are all based on memory accumulated in the past. These project into one's consciousness and while one is occupied with them, one loses his or her awareness of the Present, which is the only Reality there is.Being thus cut off from the Real, the Now, one proceeds to fill the inner poverty through indulgence in ideologies, beliefs, dogmas, hopes, gross materiality and other distractions of the mind, which are but momentary stimulants, needed to paddle the superficial consciousness on, since the inextinguishable supply of Livingness of Reality is unavailable.Regardless of the name used, Reality, Life or God can manifest in its Perfection through a human being who has cleansed his mind and heart of all preconceived ideas, beliefs, prejudices and hopes. When the little self, which grows out of memory, surrenders its self-centered and separate position and realizes it itself is nothing, then the Real, which is the Whole, comes to the foreground of the consciousness and a Master is born, free from limitations of the average human life.
