Floor shaking bass from just 200 watts
I have 2 non-working subs that I needed to replace. One is a 1000W Paradigm Servo 15 that I bought in 2006 for $2000. The other is an old Polk model that was tiny, but put out great bass. My only remaining working sub was a 50W Polk sub that I had gotten as part of a HTIB several years back.Having purchased a brand new 5 speaker surround set-up, a new Sony receiver, a 4K dvd player, a Roku 4K, and a new Sony TV, I decided to upgrade my sub to something with a bit more punch than 50W. My family room is 12 by 20, and has laminate floors, so I didn't want something too strong.Having owned the Servo, I know what an earthquake is like. No way would I ever need something that powerful in my family room. I figured the HTS(Home Theater Series) 12 would be great. Make sure to realize the difference in power specs. Most of the time, the description lists peak power, which is often double what the RMS power is.The RMS is the power the sub can put out continuously. The peak power is a brief burst of wattage. This sub has a 200W RMS rating, but a 400W peak. I have the sub sitting on an Auralex Gramma foam isolation pad to prevent too much room shaking with the laminate flooring. I have it at 60% volume, and an 80HZ crossover point, and my chair at 10ft distance.Watching Avengers Infinity War, it wasn't long before I noticed my chair vibrating! This is powerful bass. The other thing to look for in a sub, is "clean bass." A lot of subs can put out serious wattage, but may sound "boomy." Loud, is not necessarily good. You want the sub to disappear into the background, so that you don't even realize it's there. This sub does that with aplomb.Plus, it looks good. It has a huge downfiring port on the bottom. I can't believe this is only 200W. Fact is, it's too powerful. I'm eventually going to buy another, and put them into my basement with my dedicated home theater to replace my Paradigm. I'm going to put the 100W HTS10 in my family room, since I don't need the floor shaking constantly. Very happy with my purchase.

Polk audio is under rated.
I read all these super audio guys reviews and I am just am average guy who likes to play my music everyonce and a while and enjoy some movies.I blew my old sub and that's why I went to buy this one. There were plenty of reviews saying it didn't make enough bass etc etc like of critical high rated reviews. Almost didn't buy it. But I already have upgraded the rest of my system to their matching big center channel and the 8" in ceiling speakers so I said screw it I'll try it.First of all when I opened my door I was shocked to say the least 🤣🤣 this sub is massive! Included is the picture of my old Def Tech sub next to this one.Put it next to a wall plug it in. Adjusted it. No problems with signal on with my Denon receiver -2020 model.Sound wise this thing sounds incredible paired with the other Polk speakers I have and definitely was designed to work with their speakers. Definable difference in overall sound of system with their sub.I'd buy I again but definitely didn't need to go to the 12 lol. Polk definitely was never in my list to buy but has impressed me.

WOW!
This is an amazing sub that can hit incredibly hard. It took some time to find the happy medium on the fine adjustments, but once I did I'm very happy with how it sounds and hits. I paired it with some Sony SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speakers and a Yamaha A-S301BL Amplifier. My 3rd one, for all the right reasons
It's what you want, and yes the weight is the speaker, not "filler". You can find cheaper subs but you will not find cleaner and sexier style than this for price range. And yes the hts10 slaps just as respectfully, but the 12 will loosen teeth if you ask it nicely
