16-BIT HD Entertainment System for SNES (HDMI Output)

This is a nice trip down memory lane. I had received a SNES for Christmas of '91, which after all these years had proved to be my favorite console. Recently, I have been really put off by a lot of the modern games. They just seemed to be more flash than substance. With the retro gaming scene exploding recently, I dug out an old box that still contained several of my old SNES carts. The urge to play them again proved overwhelming, and decided to check local pre-owned game stores. All SNES consoles were too expensive, and I felt let down. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up youtube, and found a youtuber by the screen name of Gamester81 who reviewed a generically named 'New 16-bit Entertainment System' on his channel. I watched, and was quite impressed by his overview of this particular clone console. I decided that since it was only about 40 bucks, I would give it a shot. Well, I received it a few days ago, and I hooked everything up to my TV. Since I have an HDMI only TV, I had to use a special adapter that would covert AV signals to HDMI. It is a little kludgy, but it works out very well. I am REALLY impressed by this machine. It helps stroke the nostalgia with its looks, and the audio and video is quite clean. I know that the graphics may appear a little darker than how they appeared on the original SNES, but it is quite livable. The audio really surprised me, as it was actually quite punchy. I have had a bit of experience with using several of the clone consoles that are out, and this one is DEFINITELY one of the best I have used.The contents of the box are really nothing big: The 16-bit clone console, AC adapter, AV cables, S-Video cables (nice touch), and two SNES-style controllers. I have been impressed with the quality of the build for the machine and its controllers. They really feel like they came from Nintendo. The cross pads are nice and tight, and the buttons all worked just fine. The AV cables and S-Video cables were standard fare, nothing worse or better than any that are bought at the store. The AC adapter seems a bit smaller than I remember the original SNES one was, which is handy in my power strip. The console itself is definitely neat, as it feels and looks a lot like what the original SNES did. The buttons for Power and Reset are now just push in, instead of slide forward, but that is quite fine with how the machine works.Game compatibility: Here is where I am afraid I am not as helpful as I could be. I only have seven SNES carts still, though I played them all just fine: Axelay, Super CastleVania 4, Gradius 3, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Mortal Kombat 2, Super Metroid, and UN Squadron. I plan on getting more carts again for my collection, (natch) but that will take time, unfortunately. Depending on what happens in the next several months, may expand this list with some new ones added.In summary: This machine I definitely find to really be worth the money. I have heard that there are some carts that are incompatible with it, like Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Super Mario RPG. Since I don't own them, obviously I can't vouch one way or the other. I know that it feels great to be able to play my old games again, and I love going down nostalgia lane with them. I definitely recommend this console to those whom wish to play those wonderful old SNES games again. Well worth the money. Our old "historic" ninento died and we love to play tetris at times. This replacement works perfectly.

I've read some of the other reviews on this and they say that it doesn't play certain games. Not sure what the problems is for other customers, but I've had no problems playing my SNES games, including some that others have said they had problems with.I'm really happy with it. Plays all of my games, quality and feel are better than some cheaper consoles I own.

This purchase replaced my original Game Tek system that lasted 12 years, and met its demise after contact with a bouncy canine. The equipment comes with 2 controllers, which function smoothly. It is comparable to the original SNE, in all aspects, but one, the obvious price difference. It does not disappoint

The only issue I have is taking the cartridge out of the system. The system seems to have a death grip on the cartridge. There is no eject lever like on the original SNES. So every time I pull a cartridge out it takes some effort and I think I broke the cartridge. I put it back in twice just to see if it still works, it does. One game I ordered did not work but the other two did.

This product was amazing! It worked smooth without any lag. It was a pretty cheap purchase, so I’m happy! 5 stars.

When I opened the box, the cover for the cartridge slot was allready broken, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyways. It worked for about 2 hours before the screen went black and it never worked again.

A few weeks ago I had this urge to buy a Super Nintento system so I could play Super Mario. I remember being a child and how much joy playing video games used to be. I never got caught up in Play Stations or 3D visuals. I liked the old school 1 dimensional arcade style gaming.I bought a used Super Nintendo system online for $200 bucks and it worked well. The power button would always stay on (price of a used unit I guess) and when I was on Amazon THIS unit showed up.My mouth fell to the ground because had I been more patient I would have spend $60 instead of $200.I just plugged this unit in and OH....MY.....GOD it worked BEAUTIFULLY and I didn't need to clean the cartridge with alcohol first.SO THRILLED that I ended up with a unit that could play old Super Nintendo games for 1/3 of the price of the original Super Nintendo System.
