The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook: Patterns, Projects and Inspirations

I came across Sashiko recently at a textile trade fair,and was intrigued to find out more and to try my hand at it. I haven't had time to try my hand at it yet, but the book is informative and packed full of sewing tips and patterns,all beautifully presented. A joy to leaf through,and with designs that I will try at home and probably also adapt into my needlepoint designs.

I love this book, a great resource for beginners. Lots of information about the history of Sashiko, great resource for a wide variety of traditional patterns and their meaning. In addition, some great ideas for samplers and other projects. So pleased I bought it, the content has inspired me to integrate this stitching into some of my dressmaking. Susan, the author is knowledgeable and talented but is also able to communicate this to her readers. So pleased I found this gem.

This is a wonderful resource. In addition to the history and background, the projects themselves and the invaluable stitch library at the back, this book also lists suppliers and explains all the little details you need to know to successfully stitch sashiko. My only complaint is that it doesn't really cover boro (patching with old material or offcuts), or how to use it in its traditional way: as a mending method. It describes how it was used in this way but there are no detailed instructions or projects of this kind. But this is still an excellent book which will explain how to produce many different sashiko patterns from scratch by drawing grids (not relying on transfers or preprinted material).

Its a useful reference book but I was disappointed with the print quality which lets it down - the photographs were not very inspirational given the potential subject matter and a bit dull in colour and the text was not sharp.

I bought this book to go with a Sashiko quilt kit that I'm gifting my wife. It seems an excellent extension of all that she will learn making up her quilt. The illustrations are detailed, excellent and I think the book is entirely motivating.

Great book very informative and helpful

This is an excellent book with a range of projects but most importantly a good amount of stitch options for 2 different types of sashiko. I’m very pleased with this and it is inspiring

Livre particulièrement agréable à feuilleter : présentation, description, photographies, explications, visualisation, modèles... à travers ce livre, c'est une belle découverte d'autres techniques de broderie que j'ai découvertes à l'étranger : une envie ? le feuilleter encore et : se mettre à l'ouvrage !!! À conseiller sans retenue aux "curieuses" de la Broderie...
