Can I load and play audible books

This device will not support Audible book format, I had this answer from Audible

Trying to copy music from a memory stick plugged in to an old dell, running xp, to the hifi walker. it doesn't seem to recognise the microsd card.

You don't have to go through the HI-Fi Walker to put the music on. You can put it straight to the SD card if the Dell will recognise that, maybe through an SD card micro adapter. The HI-FI walker will see the music when the micro SD is inserted back in. I do it this way all the time. Much better, and just let the music player 'find the tracks' if it insists. It doesn't even need to. Remember to Format the micro SD in the player first if the micro SD is new.

Do you get a forced gap between tracks on playback? e.g. if you are playing a live album do you get interruptive gaps?

Gapless is supported. Madonna, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jeff Waynes War of the worlds and all others sound as they should when gapless is selected. It wont be like the USB stick in the car stereo, unless like me you doctor the albums in certain software to get rid of the gaps, and the annoying alphabetical listing of songs.

Sorry no idea. This really a question for the manufacturer. What I can tell you is that with the supplied headphones (which are fantastic) I have never used high gain mode. And it drives my Grade SR80i headphones without any problems.
