Excellent Book - definately helped my game
Ordered this a few years ago when I started shooting - easily increased my scores by 3-4 out of 25. No, its not written by an English major, which I like. Reading is like standing next to this gentleman getting pointers on the range. Highly recommended.

Not worth the new price but if you can find it for cheaper, buy it.
So here's the deal. I'm not going to bore you with what everybody else has stated, i.e. horrible grammar and repetitive details. There is some very usable tips and advise, like all coaches and instructors, their way is best. I'm an intermediate shooter and the one thing the book did talk me into was having my gun fitted. Everything the author states in the book about this is dead on. The gun maker who did the fitting also adjusted and spoke about what the author states about eye alignment and point of impact. Again the author was dead on concerning these subject matters. After the fitting, (besides pattern board shots and coaching from the gun maker) my first visit to the trap range was a 21 yard handicap round yielding 25 straight. Well worth the cost of the fitting! On the flip side this book does have what I believe to be (and many seasoned shooters) some complete garbage tips and advise. I guess like any book not everything you read is always correct, leaving the reader to pick and choose what works best for them. As the title of this review states this book is not worth the "new" price but if you buy used it is worth your time to read it.

Very good, but rambling, guide
There are some very good trapshooting tips and sound advice in this book. Just be prepared for an endless array of droll quotes, rambling advice about God, truth and virtue, and many, many, many repetitions of the exact same points over and over and over (and over). It's a bit of a chore to read, but is probably the best book ever written on the topic. Great diagrams. Recommended.

Good book
I have shot pistol and rifle for years and always shot very well. I've also done some shotgun shooting (double aught at stationary targets on the police range) and thought shooting trap would be a cinch. After a year of miserable scores I decided I needed some help so I ordered this book. It reinforced some things I should have known but wasn't doing and pointed out a lot of things I wasn't aware of. I saw some improvement the first time out after reading part of this book. I need to continue reading the rest of it and then start over again (in the book and on the shooting line) so that I can properly apply what I'm reading.

Solving Your Trap Shooting Problems Step by Step
This book is packed with detailed information on Trap Shooting. It doesn't have a constant flow as it jumps around and is repetitious in areas but that somewhat helps in the learning process. This book could use some editing and I would like see the diagrams close to the referenced text instead of in the back of the book. File it in your library as you will read it over and over. With each read you will discover and understand your strengths and weaknesses in more depth. Buy it and improve your scores whether you're a beginner or think you are a pro. I wish this book was smaller in size so it would fit better in my range bag for reference before and during tournaments.

Trap Shooting Secrets
As I have only been able to read about half the book, I am very pleased with this book. This book is an excellent book to read before you get started in Trap shooting. The Author helps one considerably with the selection of guns and shells. He makes recommendations on where to purchase the gun and what affects the gun has on your ability to hit clays. I think this is a book you will want to keep to make you successful on hitting clays.

Useful information somewhere
This book will likely provide useful information to the reader if they keep looking. I personally found the content rather disorganized and I felt the constant use of generic quotes somewhat distracting. The illustrations are located at the end of the book like one would expect in a draft of the manuscript before copy editing.

Very informative even for "newbie" trap shooters
Seems like a lot of repetition contained in the text but I find that valuable as a newbie to trap shooting I find a good way to learn is repeat the basics over and over until it becomes part of the subconcious and is REALLY learned and not just reading of information. The aha moment does not always come easy but his method of instruction is great

Too expensive with only a couple of good tips
This book has helped me with my shooting helping me get a propper foot position, gun hold and eye position above the trap. It has also caused my scores to increase. However for the cost of this book you are probably better off spending the money on 100 trap birds only or a bit more and get a lesson. There are large portions of this book that are fairly useless and whilst I re-read the areas on foot placement and gun hold there are complete chapters which appear errelevent especially when they talk about reloads which at my ground are not allowed and 3-dram loads which even looking on the net I have not been able to find out what they are.At most clubs any good shot will be willing to help you out with advice and in any competition you enter you can always ask the scorer/jury what you are doing wrong. Also be weary of the 5 star reviews as they were all written from May-September 1999 when the latest edition of the book was published probably to help bump up ratings as they are all from "A Customer" with some of the quotes taken directly from the back cover. Look at the only 3 propper current ratings and you can see that they average 1.67 stars. If you want help with trap shooting ask someone at your club or tupe this book title into google and google books provide the majority of the information you need.

Worth the Money
OK, so some of the book is USA specific (addresses, weights, distances etc), and it's got a lot of repetition but there is some very useful stuff in here. You certainly can't read it for a long time in a single session - but dip in and make notes of what might be useful and it really should help you. I found the ideas for practice sessions particularly worthwhile. Not everything will work for you, but the author acknowledges that; go in with an open mind and you never know - it might help! As for the price, it's less than most 100 bird registered events, and trying new ideas is surely more beneficial than shooting another 100 practice with no specific aim? Not perfect, but then what is??

I bought it for a friend. My friend lent it to a friend and couldnt get it back so he had to buy another one. That must mean it is an essential book to have for trapshooters.

If no time for reading, digital media is now the thing
It's ok, has great information if you have the time to read. I have found that the video training media now covers all of that and with video footage of it applied makes sense quicker and easier and in less time. With my busy life I don't have the time to read any more, digital media gives me the same info in less time and with more comprehension.
