These are the wrong pads for your canisters, I believe you need a round vision of the pads. You will only need 1 pad in the top tray of your canister. Hope you are able to find the correct pads for your canister filter.

How do these compare to the generic ones? Especially in terms of longevity?

These are like 10% more convenient for 100000% the price of generic alternatives. Compared t a Â£2 bag of filter wool, the Fluval stuff fits perfectly into a Fluval filter without any cutting. It is slightly more firm, so you can get 2-3 washes out of it compared to 1-2 for filter floss (depends how often you clean your filter). So great if your loaded with cash and/or very lazy, bit otherwise it's a rip off.
