Keeping Indigenous History Alive
Anne Carneros’s Daughters of Copper Woman is a book about female empowerment. It is a book that holds timeless wisdom, providing needed, in-depth information on many human issues. At a time when feminism is under assault at even more heinous levels, this book is a powerhouse of support for the strength, gifts, and beauty of being woman. Indigenous history is powerful and hence the need to suppress it back in the day. Daughters of Copper Woman keeps indigenous history alive.

A Gorgeous Womb with a View
In these troubling times for women, it was a breath of fresh air to immerse myself in these creation myths representing the warrior class of the First Nations People in the Pacific Northwest. These stories empower and enrich who we are as women. Rather than teachings which present women and their bodies as tainted, second class or somehow dirty, Daughters of Copper Woman encourage us to revel and be proud of our bodies, desires, strengths and more. A must read for every woman, I wish I had been raised with these as part of my spiritual foundation.

a must have on the library shelf
this book is a real gem, quietly exuding its wisdom and testimony to a life that was and how non natives decimate traditions that existed for eons. nicely balanced and humane, keeps the stories alive and we are blessed for that.

So inspiring!
Read on past the old stories into the current tale of the young woman telling her story. It is all good and much to teach!

Great story for women
If you've ever wondered about your feelings and joys and sorrows and where they might come from, this book has wonderful history and lore about the powerful energy of women and how and why they've come to attain it. Very affirmative positive energy for women to help us carry on and believe in ourselves. A couple of stretches in some of the legends, but hey, builds character.

Copper Woman and her Daughters have the Best Philosophy of Life.
It looks as if I might be just about the only man who has read and reviewed this work on AMAZON, which is a pity because men can learn a great deal from reading these native American stories, which reveal that the native peoples, and especially the native women, of Vancouver off the coast of British Columbia were both more culture and civilised than the Europeans who invaded their land and all but destroyed their culture. Not only this, their spiritual beliefs were also superior to those of the European invaders. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Anne Cameron for retelling these stories with vivid readability and making them available to a much wider readership. All told, there are 19 tales in the work plus a short explanatory preface. There is, of course, great sadness in the fact that the early settlers failed to recognise anything much that was worth learning from the native peoples or, if they did learn anything, deliberately failed to acknowledge it. There's one telling story in the book that describes how some very smelly European trapper chappies arrive on the scene and how they are a complete contrast to the native peoples concerning their personal hygiene.Nasty, male dominated, aggressive religious movements are causing untold suffering in several parts of the world as I write this. They would all do well if they were to throw down their weapons and listen to the wisdom from the Daughters of Copper Woman. .Men cannot be trusted with religion. Copper Woman and her descendants have a philosophy of life far superior to anything taught by male managed religious palaver. Copper Woman and her daughters know all about how to nurture security in a very insecure world. It's so encouraging that these teachings and ways of life are now preserved for generations in this interesting and very helpful book.

Stirring....
My friend lent me this little book as the time was right...it is a curious read to start with and it pulls you and connects you to something deep inside. I had to get a copy to keep as you know that you will go back and you will lend it to others. I found that I would read a little and then let it sink in for a few days maybe it was sometimes the bravery, the deep sense of hurt or the shock of these tales handed down by these remarkable women. There is also a sense of humour that runs through these chapters that help ground the whole book. It felt like I had found another piece of the missing puzzle in my life, my mother's, my daughter's,my sister's, my aunties my women folk....we are all related :)

Everyone should have one!
I adore this book and have given a copy to lots of my friends. Have reread it over and over in the last two dewcades and never get bored with it. The stories really capture what we are missing in our lives and culture so they are inspiring. And they get better and better as the book goes on. Highly recommend.
