Works great!
My new secret weapon! I live in Hawaii and started out using this on reefs in the 40-60 ft range to get my lures deeper when I troll. I used to use a deep diving Rapala, but it never got down very deep and it put a lot of strain on the rod and line due to the resistance of the big lip. This planer gets my lures down a good 15 feet or more and all the strain is on the rope that attaches to a cleat, instead of your equipment. When a fish hits, the rubber band breaks, the line separates from the planer, and you're free to fight the fish. The only drawback is it takes a little work to deploy, and if you're fighting a bigger fish, you definitely want to have someone pull in the planer so the fish doesn't wrap around it. The big advantage is that you'll catch more fish. When I troll I run two surface lines and a deep one using the planer. The deep line accounts for about two-thirds of the fish I catch. A few weeks ago I caught a 40 lb Ono (Wahoo) on it, so lately I've been using it on the 40 fathom ledge as well. I troll faster with heavier equipment out on the ledge (7-8 mph) and the planer has worked well despite the higher speed, producing several more Ono. However, I've found anything larger than a 7 inch jet head results in the rubber band breaking prematurely. All in all I'm really happy with it. The planer has more than paid for itself with all the fish I've caught using it.

Awesome product
Very easy to use. I’ve ran online planers for years and never knew how easy a house planer was to use.The bands that come with it are trash.
