KLOO's Race to London - The Teach English as a Foreign Language Board Game -

I am English teacher with students of all ages and levels, and I had been already a while looking for board games that could be used with all kinds of classes, and KLOO's Race to London has definitely met my expectations. It's great fun and has easy rules, and can be played quickly in a very simple way or, if the time allows it, have huge marathons as well. What's more, the rules can effortlessly be adapted according to the needs of the classes, for example for total beginners or young kinds the decks can be simplified even more. On the other hand, for more advanced students the difficulty can be raised by mixing the decks, or creating other ways harder challenges. There's a lot of room for imagination! And even without any customizing, playing the game with the standard rules gives already good opportunities for learning. Highly recommendable !

I bought this to play with my family, and it was a good experience!To play the game you have to have one or two persons that have a good command of English. Players draw cards which are colour-coded. Each card contains a word/collocation/article, and the colour codes indicate the order in which these cards can be combined. This allows even a person with no knowledge of English to formulate simple sentences. When I played with my family it was a good practice of vocabulary and pronunciation.Dictionaries will help, although after about three rounds most of the words have been covered (depends on how many players there are). After a while the game becomes repetitive and too easy, so we introduced some modifications to the official rules (e.g. a penalty for using dictionary after the word has been used by a previous player). I think as the players get more comfortable with the game, they can introduce additional rules to make the game a bit more challenging.Four stars because all of the cards are using present tense, e.g. "We meet a friendly brother." This results in sentences which sound awkward. It is possible to manually modify (almost all) of the verbs to past tense, but I wish that there was a ready-made set that included different tenses.TIP : You can find free additional cards on the manufacturer's website. These free cards include past tense. You'll need a printer to print them out.Overall, I would recommend getting this game if you want to help someone learn English (Beginner to intermediate level) or you're a teacher who is looking for classroom activities.PS: Kloo is available in other languages, but if you have one board, then you can just get additional decks of cards on the manufacturer's website.

Very disappointing. Bought this game for A2 -B1 students. They found the instructions difficult to understand and when we found that there was a video to explain them it wasn't in English.

Love, love, love this game. The rules are straightforward and the translations enable students to play the game unaided. Well worth it. For beginners it takes about 45 minutes to play, and you can add levels of complexity as they progress. Good for young readers or ESL students. Suitable for both adults and children learning a new language.

I have played this game with several students but I find it syntactically a little strange. The sentences are a bit weird and not really what I would use in daily life. After a couple of games I have kept it on the shelf I'm afraid.

I'm amazed to see other English as a foreign language leaving positive reviews. The English London game is clearly a poor translation of French. We don't 'take' breakfast, or to that matter any other meal unless you are the queen. The grammar was extremely poor and I had to return this game as it was unusable for my EFL students.

The cards are great and my students enjoy playing them, but I have never used the board game. It seems a little unnecessary?!

Haven't played London game yet but the Spanish and French are fantastic. Bought for grandchildren - reluctant language learners and I can't believe how much these games have motivated them and massively improved their fluency and interest in the language. Delighted and grateful customer.

Tolles Spiel um ein bisschen Englisch zu lernen. Man lernt automatisch grammatikalisch richtige Sätze zu bilden da durch die vorgegebenen Farben die Satzstruktur vorgegeben ist.Es gibt vier verschiedene Kartenstapel mit den Themen- people- food and drinks- places- everyday objectsJe länger die Sätze sind, die gebildet werden und je mehr Wörter man übersetzen kann, desto weiter darf man am Spielplan vorwärtsgehen.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,das Spiel ist ein Reinfall, denn es gibt keine vernünftige Beschreibung. Es geht nicht daraus hervor was man mit den 4 Paket Karten machen soll.Dann wie das Spiel mit dem Spielbrett funktioniert ist auch nicht erläutert. Wir können uns nicht vorstellen wie es zu so positiven Beurteilungen kommen kann.Ferner ist das Video unter [...] ein Flop, auch hieraus kann kein Spielverlauf abgeleitet werden.Am liebsten würden wir das Spiel zurück geben, leider haben wir schon alle Kartenpakete geöffnet, da wir dachten hier einen Hinweis auf die Spielweise zu finden.R. Normally I do not write reviews, but after taking up almost 40 euros to pay for this game and now feeling as if I have wasted my money, I just had to.

Grosse déception et sensation de s'être vraiment fait arnaquer. Le plateau ne sert à rien et ce n'est pas du tout ludique. Il manque des conjonctions pour faire de vraies phrases en anglais. Les gens qui ont conçu ce jeu ne sont vraiment pas des lumières. Un rapport qualité/prix au dessous de tout.
