K&F CONCEPT 77mm Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter Mist Cinematic Effect Filter

I’ve been using the K&F Concept 49mm Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter for both photography and video, and it delivers exactly the cinematic look I was hoping for. The filter softens highlights and creates a beautiful glow around light sources without making images look overly blurry or losing important detail. Skin tones appear smoother and more flattering, which makes it especially useful for portrait work. The build quality is excellent. The glass is clear and well made, and the multi layer coatings help minimize reflections while making the filter easy to clean. I have not noticed any significant loss of sharpness or unwanted color shifts in my photos or footage. It’s a basic filter but decent quality and effective. I use it on my Helios 44-2. The alterations are subtle, but for portraits I find it helps soften skin tones a lot and adds a very subtle glow to lighter colored tones. This is important, as it reduces that kind of digital sharpness you get with digital shots. For portraits using this particular lens, it’s a very useful filter.

I had never used a Black Diffusion filter before because I always thought it was not really necessary. After a few weeks of shooting a documentary with this K&F Concept filter, I keep asking myself why I didn’t buy one earlier. The effect is subtle but beautiful. It makes bright scenes, especially with direct sunlight, look much smoother and more cinematic. Highlights become softer, and the image gets a nice organic feel without losing too much sharpness. I was surprised by how much I liked the look it creates. Now I use it almost all the time when shooting outdoors. For anyone making films, documentaries, or creative videos, this filter is definitely worth trying.

This filter does a great job of achieving that dreamy fuzzy halo effect around light sources. It also softens for a subdued look. Don’t pay the premium that is being charged by the branded diffusion filters - you don’t need some Instagram photographers name for $180. The value of this K&F filter is outstanding and the image quality is fantastic. I love it.

Likes: I like the quality of the rim. It is made of a metallic feeling material that feels sturdy. The lens comes with a bonus of lens wipes which is amazing. Glare reduction is not seemingly high. Value is amazing compared to its competitors. Size is amazing and still works with original lens cap. Functions as told through pictures, and demos. Cons: One small con, for a minute I was worried that it wasn’t fitting properly however it takes a while of rotating it on the lens in order for it to be put into place. It does remain sturdy at the end.

I love night time photography with this lens on my 40mm. The products fits the camera without issue and works well every time, it’s all in user setting and how you edit the photo. It’s thick and weighty enough to feel like a quality product and the way the halation spreads the colors so naturally. The product doesn’t feel cheap and it’s easily tossed into a bag or case with a cloth. It’s really upped the look of my liminal photography.

I bought the 1/8 filter first and it's ideal for a subtle glow and at night. This 1/4 is perfect for daytime when you need a bit more strength for a more pronounced glow effect. These filters feel high quality and come in a nice box. My only suggestion for improvement is to label the boxes what's in them. They are semitransparent and you cannot tell what's in them.

J’utilise le K&F Concept Black Diffusion 1/4 régulièrement sur mes objectifs Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 et Sony 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 ayant un diamètre de 67mm avec mon Sony a6700, pour la photo et la vidéo. Après plusieurs mois, je suis très satisfait du rendu qu’il apporte à mes images. Points forts : • Rendu cinématique : adoucit les hautes lumières tout en conservant un style naturel et professionnel. • Diffusion 1/4 équilibrée : ni trop marquée (comme un 1/2), ni trop discrète (comme un 1/8), idéale pour un usage polyvalent. • Simple à utiliser : il suffit de visser le filtre sur l’objectif. • Compatible avec d’autres filtres : pratique pour le combiner avec un filtre ND ou tout autre filtre du même diamètre. • Bonne qualité de fabrication : solide, fiable pour un usage régulier sur le terrain. Point à améliorer • Grip parfois difficile : il m’arrive de ne pas réussir à le dévisser lorsqu’il est combiné avec un autre filtre. Dans ce cas, il faut soit le manipuler hors de l’appareil, soit garder les deux filtres vissés ensemble, ce qui peut être contraignant selon la situation. Il existe en revanche des solution pour le défaire avec un tissu ou un élastique. En résumé je dirais que c’est un excellent filtre pour celles et ceux qui cherchent à donner un aspect cinématique à leurs images. Le 1/4 est parfaitement dosé pour un rendu naturel et polyvalent, et malgré un petit défaut de maniabilité, c’est un outil efficace et agréable à utiliser, surtout en combo avec d’autres filtres.
