This book aided me in my teens
I bought this book a second time, because I first read it when I was a teen. It is still a great book. I, however, wasn't aware that the author later was arrested for inappropriate behavior with minors. Unbelievable.

Great book
Originally read this book when I was in high school during the 1970s. Recently found it and re-read it. Just as accurate and meaningful now as when I first read it. Highly recommended, especially for adolescents.

A great place to start the journey towards wholeness and happiness. Recommended without hesitation.
In the most troubled period of my life, someone suggested I read this heart-opening book. It launched my journey into learning to trustlife, people, and to love myself. Particularly helpful to those with low self-esteem, those who need to build courage to start on theirown, or anyone afraid of his own shadow: start reading this and doing the exercises. Two other books that also helped around the same time:You Are Not the Target by Laura Huxley and I'm Not Much Baby, But I'm All I've Got, by Jess Laird. These three books started myjourney to wholeness and happiness. Ultimately I found the 12-step program, (particularly Codependents Anonymous and Adult Children of Alcoholics), but also attended Unity Church (non guilt based spirituality), and studied the metaphysical teachings of Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet and the mystical writings of Joel S. Goldsmith. This book was a primer on the path. If you're attracted to it, I'd go ahead and get it. Really.I've recommended it many times to friends, particularly the confused, shy and those lacking forthright self-esteem and power.

A very heady, psychoanalytical book
Topic is very condensed and approaches codependency-related issues ( communication with others, dealing with own emotions) from a psychoanalysis perspective. Great perhaps, for therapists, but not practical for every day people looking for ways to gain a better understanding of codependency.+ I would recommend this book for therapists.+ About 100 pages.

Unbelievable amounts of knowledge
This book is incredible! Highly recommend for anyone looking to make some big genuine changes in their lives. Opens your eyes to why you are and why people are the way they are-and helps give you a path of authenticity so you are able to learn every little reason why you do what you do and how to fix that....as well as grow through genuine relationships with others.

This book has it all!
I just started and finished this book this afternoon and will re-read it again and again. I came back to find other books by this author, it's that enlightening - you don't need to see your therapist after this read! Brilliant!
