This is a great and helpful tool that is often recommended by free motion quilters. I found though that it was simply too large for the surface I was working on. Most YouTube quilters recommending matching the size of the hoop to the size of the quilt. But I found the more important parameter is the size of the surface you have near your needle. If it's too big it won't sit firmly. But this hoop is well made, very high quality. Just sorry it wasn't the size for me. I'll try the smaller one.

This made holding my fabric down much easier. It did not slip and slide at all. The little handles were a good size to hold onto. Just sit back hold the handles and have control of your quilt for stitching. I DO recommend.

Rings help to keep the quilt taut and aid in smooth movements. What I dislike about these rings vs others is that there is no opening in the ring to allow it to be removed without cutting the thread.

Love this! I find the weight and grip on the fabric make free motion quilting much easier. Gloves did grip well, but I found it difficult to keep the “sandwich” as smooth as it is with this tool. I highly recommended this tool. I know many people recommend the 11” size…maybe it is because I am a newbie, but I found I prefer the 8” size. Maybe as I progress I will be more comfortable with the 11” size.

I have arthritis and these hoopw are amazing! Helps to control stitch length and keeps quilt flat while you move it about. No more tugging, sore shoulders and hands and janky quilting! vast improvement in stitches first time I used it! Of course you need to lift and move the hoop as you quilt, but its fairly easy to catch on to. The knobs are perfect. I love to quilt, just don't have space or $$$ for a long-arm. But these things really help. A vast improvement!

Used for free motion quilting. Saves hands. Marcelli makes Bernina red also. Red has opening; black doesn't. Easy to cut one. Black cheaper than red.

I work on a sit down longarm machine and do a lot of freestyle free motion quilting. This hoop enables me to do larger designs without having to reposition my hands and quilt. I even turn it diagonally to get even more width for some designs! I can lay my arms on it and get my hands closer to the needle area if desired. It really helps hold down the quilt, which is like having extra hands! I found I could flip the hoop up and over the front of the machine thereby getting it out of the way so I could reposition the fabric. I read in quilting groups that many people cut away the small, flat section to open the hoop so they can remove it without cutting their thread. I finally had my husband do this, too, and it does not affect the performance of the hoop.I love this hoop. I do not use it all the time for everything, but it is a great asset to have!

For all those who FMQ on their home machine, this ring really works very well!!. The cost for this 11" ring is a lot less than what the Sparrow company (from Canada) will charge you and it will arrive in two day on Amazon Prime. You will be amazed at how well it grips the sandwich resulting in beautiful FMQ. I've used it plenty and can tell you how much better my free handed FMQ comes out because of this 11" ring. Do not get the 8" inch, as this is the perfect size for any machine regardless of the harp size. I know its hard to judge a good product by the reviews, but trust me on this one, I do a lot of FMQ on home machine when quilting large bed sized quilts, and this makes the process so much easier and gives way less strain on your hands and fingers. This is one time you can be assured of how good this works without having to test it out.

The rings work really good for gripping the quilt when doing free motion on. Sit down long arm machine. I was hesitant at first because of the price.....but they are well worth the investment if you have lots of quilting to do.

I have been trying to improve my machine quilting skills and with these helpers I think I’ll be very happy. They really grip the fabric well and are so easy to manoeuvre. Less shoulder fatigue using these

I bought these 3 months ago and love them. I find that I can relax my shoulders and arms more compared to just using gloves. They give me great control with free motion quilting. My hands don’t get tired either. I bought the set of large and small rings. My sewing machine has a larger throat and an extension table. If you don’t have this I think that the smaller hoop size would be better. I have used both but prefer the larger size

8" Ring works great on domestic machines for free motion quilting. Larger size to big for my machine
