Stool Softener - Docusate Sodium 100mg Constipation Relief - Gentle, Stimulant-Free Laxative for Constipation - 25 Stool Softener Softgels

These softgels work about the same as other brands of Docusate Sodium 100mg softgels. The only thing I don't like about this brand, is it's price. I can get Equate brand stool softener, in the same strength, and get 100 softgels, for a few bucks more. So, it's not cost effective to buy these and get only 25 softgels. I would buy this brand, if there were no better deals available. I would like to mention, when swallowing these, wash the softgel down immediately after putting it in your mouth. If the softgels are left in the mouth for more than 5-7 seconds, you'll start tasting a horribly bitter taste, that's a bit hard to get rid of on it's own. Typically, plain water won't get rid of this taste. I have to drink a beverage to remove it from my mouth. This also happens with other brands. I guess it's the main ingredient that's the issue. You don't have to worry about it happening, as long as you take it in a timely manner. It occasionally happens to me if I've accidentally set my drink elsewhere, put the softgel in my mouth, and have to get up to find my drink. Before, I tried spitting the already wet softgel into my hand until I got my drink. The terrible taste still got in my mouth because the softgel had already gotten wet. I guess once it gets wet, this nasty "flavor" becomes activated fairly quickly. So, just don't put the softgel in your mouth, until you're ready to swallow it. All brands I've used were like this. I swear they should put a warning on containers. 😅

This stool softener is a small coated pill that comes in a sealed bottle. It is easy to take, especially with the gell coating. They do what they are supposed to and I personally think stool softeners are easier on the stomach than laxatives. The main thing is to drink plenty of water. These cost a lot less than the ones I was getting previously so I'm grateful I found out about them. I would recommend these if you need a stool softener since they work and cost less than most.

As you can see in my photo these are just about identical to the ones I normally buy which they have at any pharmacy. The only difference is the black lettering on the capsules. Inside the BETR Remedies box is a bottle containing the capsules well safety sealed. Here's the thing with these though, they're cheaper than the big name brand so if that's what you get...fine maybe go for these. However I usually get the generic brand and these are more expensive considering there's only 25 capsules in this bottle (for $1 more I can get a 100ct). They seem to work exactly the same so it's really just a toss up on if this is going to be a worthwhile value for you.

These have helped me before but I gave 4 stars because like 2/10 times it may not help you pass a bowel movement, otherwise OK product

Docusate sodium is a tried and true medication, so pretty much any brand will do when I take it daily for my colitis symptoms. This one works just like all the others. I chose this one because it gives back and makes a difference, and for that I am willing to pay a little more.

This stool softener is comparable to other name brand and generic products and works just as well. The price is cheaper than the name brand you might buy, but quite a bit more expensive than some of the generic options. It would seem the reason for that would be the charitable contribution to getting prescriptions for those in need. If you would like something cheaper than name brand, but would appreciate knowing that your purchase helps others, this is a great option. If, however, you are needing the most affordable option, this isn’t it.
