A very well written, and informative book. I had an earlier print version of this book, but this new copy contains so much more information, that is relevant to modern engine tuning. The structure of the book is very well presented, with a methodical flow through all the tuning parameters of an engine. The writing style never boggles with science, or talks down to the reader.

I'm rebuilding an engine. This book is a vast information pot, there were things I had not considered that this book will explain.Explanation, though not aimed at a child, is clear enough for the novice to grasp. Just be aware, there is SO much stuff in this book, you could effectively build and tune the engine!Well worth the money.

I highly recommend this book. Very detailed about every aspect of engine tuning whilst being very easy to read and understand. I am just an enthusiast, but found this book so interesting I couldnt put it down.

Very informative book, very comprehensive. Excellent write ups on tuning theory and practice. Its gives you a good foundation in the subject, and does not leave any doubts. Thoroughly recommend this book as a reference guide and to gain new knowledge in the subject.

great read, clearly explains many concepts and theory of tuning. I am a motorsport technician by trade and it is a top reference for many projects.

An excellent comprehensive book

Great book

I have been involved in racing automobiles and mechanics for over 50 years now. I have amassed a fair sized library on engines, graduated with a degree in Internal Combustion Engines, teach gas engines at a 2 year college, and wonder how I ever missed this book! I am only into the beginning of the chapter on cylinder heads and totally amazed at the attention to details and the depth of understanding. This is not a book for the guy who just wants some suggestions on tinkering on his engine on Sundays (although a lot could be learned). The information in this book is on a college level and discusses the aspects of engine design. It is all done with a minimal amount of math and is an easy read for anyone with a mechanical aptitude. I highly recommend taking notes as you go through it. I would use this for a 3rd or 4th year level engine class if we offered one. You can bet I will be extracting some of the concepts for my 2nd year students though. Just a totally awesome book. Kudos to the author!

I've read this book twice. First time was to get all the "tips n tricks", second was taking notes of all I needed in order to tune my motorcycle engine.What is cool about this book is that it explains you the whole thing. Beginning with the crucial importance of air density, going into spark advance etcThis book covers the subject better than some other book i've read.I'd definitely recommend this book for people who wants the understanding of the whole engine working.5/5stars because it has lots of drawn illustrations.
