Although the doorbells appear to work as described, purchasers should be aware that the items in this Kit are supplied in separate boxes and do not arrive already linked to each other, or to the two door pushes. Consequently, if the two doorbells can be obtained separately at a better price, there is no actual advantage in purchasing them as a Kit.Also, as is so often the case with modern electronic devices, the in-box instructions are set-out in the form of a visual code, making them rather difficult to decipher by anyone unfamiliar with setting-up such devices. As no wiring is required for these Honeywell products, the easy placing of the items in the home is possibly then let-down by the lack of clear instructions (in plain English) on how to initially link the doorbells to the supplied door pushes, or to subsequently adjust their tone, volume and flashing lights. Anyone confused by the in-box instructions will, therefore, need to either consult the videos on Honeywell’s website or ask a teenager.One other point to note is that it is only the battery-operated Series 9 Honeywell doorbell that can be used to extend the range of the Kit to the advertised 350 metre, as the Series 3 doorbell only receives and doesn’t transmit - even though it is the (non-transmitting) Series 3 doorbell which must be plugged-in to the indoor mains supply, whilst the (transmitting) Series 9 doorbell is taken out into the garden.

For anyone with hearing difficulties, this doorbell system is a great help. With audible and visual alert on both units there is little chance of missing a caller. Don’t forget that the portable unit will require 4 batteries (not supplied). I am also somewhat apprehensive about marking the grille on the portable unit as it appears to be a fine fabric. I keep mine inside a clear plastic bag to protect it.

Brilliant. My very deaf Mum couldn't hear her doorbell. This is super loud and very easy to install.
