I didn't really need 8 but at that price you can't say no. Arrived in the cotton pouch a paper envelope inside amazon standard plastic shipping envelope but that's not really the sellers fault, more of an amazon standard, which is annoying because they do have cardboard envelopes, why still the plastic ones?!Colour as depicted when ordered, lighter (in weight) than I expected, no metallic taste to beverage (or none that I have noticed).only concern is the cleaning....a quick test with the cleaning brushes....great for the straight straws but struggles with the bent straws, it doesn't seem to go round the bend, from either end. But I believe they are dishwasher safe, I would suggest rinsing straight through with hot water and not letting it go uncleaned for too long.Only time with tell as to whether the colour will remain after repeated journeys through a dishwasher.Appears to be a tiny bit narrower than a standard plastic straw so probably wouldn't do too well with thick smoothies or drinks with 'bits' in.Same length as a standard straw, will fit most glasses and regular or large take away cups (that's a 'large' KFC cup) but much too short for my 30oz / 900ml polar cup.update:they survived the first journey through the dishwasher with no damage, and a smaller cleaning brush that I already own DOES fit round the bend in the straw, the two that come with the set are fine for the straight straws but you might need to invest in a narrower one for the bent straws

These things are awesome!We took the plunge YEARS ago for this set of metal straws, which initially seemed like a large outlay.But fast forward all those years and we’ve NEVER bought any straws since.They look great, they’re portable AND don’t dissolve in your drink.PERFECT.

I was looking for reusable straws as I’m going on a cruise this year and they are using paper ones which I really don’t like but totally agree with the fact they don’t use plastic anymore ,These arrived quickly in a little eco friendly bag but unfortunately they do come in a bubble wrap package which I’m sure is unnecessary as they are not breakable so the company should get rid of these .Apart from that the straws are well made and should last a long time , they also come with 2 cleaning brushes and are good for the kids as my little boy seems to always bite the top of the straw which he can’t do with these so I can shove a couple in my bag for them when going out I like them and would buy again they just need to get rid of the bubble wrap as it kind of defeats the purpose of helping the environment if not for that they would be perfect .

Personally I could easily do without straws but my children really wanted to get some reusable ones, so we chose these. They like using them, and they seem sturdy and well made so I am hopeful they will last a long time. They come in a handy cloth bag with a brush so they can be easily cleaned after use. I think the brush has plastic bristles which is not ideal, but to be fair one of their replies to a question about the product says that they are looking for a plastic-free version. The packaging was minimal and I think all paper, so the company have obviously put thought into making the product as eco-friendly as possible, unlike many 'green' products which arrive swathed in plastic packaging. I've given 4 stars - one star dropped because of the plastic bristles and also because I feel a bit uncomfortable about the idea that products which are not really necessary can ever be eco-friendly.

I love these straws.I drink a lot of sweet juices and drinks at home and I like drinking through a straw to protect my teeth but I felt bad buying disposable ones as it's not great on the environment.These had both straight straws and bent ones to fit your needs and come with little pipecleaner type brushes to clean them which do a surprisingly good job.I bought glass ones from elsewhere at the same time which were much too big in diameter whereas these are a more standard straw size.They come with a little bag which would be useful for travel but I've not needed to take mine anywhere yet.Definitely a good buy and don't seem to irritate my sensitive teeth with coldness either which is a plus.

Thought I would do my bit and drop the old plastic straws. One word of advice, not the best for using when your driving and go over a bump!When you first see the straws they look narrow, but there is plenty of flow and for almost anything I have had to drink (NB struggles with Mc Shakes fresh from the machine, you just need to let it melt a little). Also if you have just had your mouth numbed for a filling or root canal and decide to use for a cup of tea make sure you check the temp of the tea first!I now keep a couple in the car for those unavoidable drive though moments, still getting a few strange looks when I hand back the plastic straw, but less oftenI highly recommend this product

I recently had some dental work done following an accident on my bicycle, and the material the dentist used stains really easily when drinking black coffee. So the use of a straw was recommended by the dentist. As we're all increasingly environmentally conscious - post-Blue Planet - I thought I'd get re-usable straws instead of adding to the plastic we're all bestowing upon our dependents.I must say I'm very pleased with these straws! The fabric case they come in keeps them clean when shoved to the bottom of my work bag, and the included brush makes cleaning the straws extremely easy.I've also had some very positive comments from colleagues at work, who mentioned they might get some for themselves - for when they go out drinking and can forgo the plastic straws that are thrust upon us in bars.
