Fall of Ruin and Wrath Paperback – 19 October 2023

I normally pick up this author's books without reading the blurb, I'm always sure of a brilliant read. I definitely wasn't disappointed here. The first thing I did after finishing it in under 2 days (Could have done it sooner...but how much sneaking around can I do :)) was to check for book 2. Nothing about that anywhere. Sob! Going to be stalking her site for a while now....

This will be the first JLA book in years, that I'm rating 3 stars. I don't know if it was the other 2 star, 3 star reviews that I read. Or the fact that there are so many similarities between this and FBAA and ASITE. The way Thorne and Lis spoke reminded me of Poppy and Casteel and Nyktos and Sera at times.Anyways, I hope JLA has not forgotten about the Origin series, the final installment of which is yet to release despite years of wait. Instead she has given us this, this mockery of FBAA. This book composed of scraps and pieces of FBAA. Sigh. I'm sorry to say this, but JLA this is not how you write.

This was fun and entertaining from the beginning! Calista sounds so much fun! I need to know more about her past.Thorne is an exciting character and he brings so m​uch humour to the plot. His companions were fun too! I need more scenes with them. I’m so looking forward to them in the sequel.The Baron is a complicated character and I can’t decide if I like him or hate him. Nothing is black and white and it was refreshing to see different perspectives of the events.It’s a JLA book. Obviously, I’m going to love it! Can’t wait for the sequel!!

JLA has a real knack of completely hooking you at the end by making you desperate for the next book. A clever world has been crafted in Fall of Ruin and Wrath. This felt fresh, wonderful and addictive; with a strong heroine and a dangerously alluring hero tied with shocking cliffhanger..I honestly loved the dynamic between all the characters. Found family and friendships as a trope is a personal favourite and here, I find myself amongst yet another one that I couldn’t get enough of. The plot, lore, world and the character build were just the right amount. The perfect beginnings of a gripping arc for them all.I cannot wait for book 2. I’m excited to see where JLA takes this series. I don’t have any ideas of what’s going to potentially happen in book two, but I’m ready to see how the dynamics change and how the events of this book shape the events of the next one.

I knew I was going to love this when I was through with the first chapter. I was very much hooked, and I continued to be until the end.Like always with fantasy romances, the world building got too intricate for my sleepy brain, or I would have finished it in one sitting.Also, Thorne coming sword ablaze to dethrone all my previous JLA book boyfriends wasn't fair at all.But the thing with JLA's books is that as appealing as the heroes are, the heroines are on a whole other level. So, to nobody's surprise, I just loved Calista.Also, I really, really do hope Grady doesn't do anything idiotic. I have a bad feeling about that entire thing. And, can I just say I loved the scene where our leads first met again!And I loved the ending so much, I felt like it ended right where it was supposed to.I just want to sleep and wake up on the day the next book comes. Cannot wait for Awakening #2!!!
